Hi I'm Jared

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My family and I just moved into our “dream home” in Gilbert. I graduated from ASU (Go Devils!) and NAU (Go Lumberjacks!) I am 6th grade teacher at the neighborhood school where both my son and daughter attend. Whenever I tell people what I do for a job, they usually say something like, “You are brave”. Although there are tough days, I can’t imagine not being in the classroom. I love teaching! I recently finished my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership with the hopes of one day being a principal. My beautiful wife of 10 years is a part-time nurse. I am a life-long and long suffering Phoenix Suns fan. I enjoy playing sports, especially tennis and basketball. When I have the time, I train and compete in triathlons (I swim like a brick). I spent six year in the Air National Guard and really enjoyed the opportunity to serve my country. I love taking my family to Disneyland, reading a good book, and sleeping in.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I was raised in a large family (5 sisters!) with parents that were devoted to their children and their religion. I attended and graduated from the church's high school seminary program and earned my Eagle Scout. Although I was taught at an early age to pray, read my scriptures, and attend church, I did not gain a strong faith until I become full-time missionary in Brisbane, Austraulia. My experiences with those great people taught me to rely on the Lord and love others unconditionally. My undestanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ has enhanced my relationship with my wife and children. My faith has helped me with trials in my life, including my time in the military and overcoming a debilitating illness. Because I am a Mormon, I feel that I am able to recognize blessings and that I have a purpose in life. Because I am a Mormon, I know Heavenly Father has a plan, and through the Atonement of Jesus Christ I can have peace in this life and live forever with my family in the next.

How I live my faith

I go to church 3+ hours every Sunday! The church has provided me the opportunity to serve in a variety of positions. I have worked with the youth program, been an adminstrative assistant, and have taught numerous Sunday School classes. Although I am far from perfect, I try to show Christian love to all I come in contact with. Because I am a Mormon, I have knocked on doors half way around the world, pulled weeds, shucked corn, moved pianos, baked cookies, set-up countless chairs, scrubbed pots and pans, and held screaming babies. Because I am a Mormon, I gather my family each night to read the Book of Mormon and Bible and learn about the saving grace of our Savior. I show my faith by respecting my wife and being fiercly loyal to her. I demonstrate my faith by teaching my precious children to be reverent about sacred things. Because I am a Mormon, I pray for opportunities to share my happiness and undesratnding of the gospel to my friends and neighbors.
