Hi I'm Shelly

I am an RN. I am a wife. I am a mother to 5 boys and 1 girl. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a crazy busy Mom of 6 wonderful kids! My days are filled with laundry, carpooling, homework, football, soccer, piano lessons, etc.. I worked as a Registered Nurse part time (night shift) for 10 years to help my husband through professional school. During my 10 years of work in the health profession I grew to understand and appreciate the diversity of people and their faith. We've lived in 5 different states throughout the country. These and other life experiences have helped me to appreciate the fulness of the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and what they mean to me. I enjoy creating memories for my family. I love to travel, cook, eat, shop, exercise, read and laugh! I love being able to squeeze every minute out of the day and I find myself wishing I could stop the clock or add more hours to the day.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a wonderful family who taught me the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I learned to follow and live the teachings of Jesus. I developed a love for the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I was taught the correct principle that there is a living Prophet on the earth today and that as I follow his counsel, I will be blessed. As a teenager, I vividly remember watching my friends make choices that I knew would lead to unhappiness and knew that I would have to gain my own testimony of what I had been taught in my home. I remember kneeling and praying to my Heavenly Father in faith, knowing that he would answer my prayers. Over a period of time I received a confirmation from the Spirit that these things are true. I have a burning testimony that the Lord's true church is on the earth. I believe that Book of Mormon is the word of God and with the Bible is another testament of Jesus Christ. I am strengthened as I read the scriptures every day. I know that Christ lives and that he suffered, died and was resurrected for us. I know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet, who as a young boy, went to a grove of trees to ask God a simple question and received an undeniable answer. I know it was through him that the gospel of Jesus Christ was restored to this earth. I know that there is a living Prophet on the earth today. As a mother, I worry about my children and the world they live in. I find great peace in knowing that God has not left us alone. He has had Prophets on the earth through out the ages. I know He loves his children today, just as he did in times of old, and continues to call Prophets to lead and direct them.

How I live my faith

The greatest evidence of my faith is in the way that I live as a wife and mother. My favorite moments are when we gather around the table at meal time and talk about the events of the day (I am mastering listening to 6 children talk at the same time!) and then to read from the scriptures and pray. I currently am serving in our church as a counselor in the Stake Primary Presidency, which means I get to support and serve with those who minister and teach the young children (ages 18 months to 11 years old). I love to see the amazement and wonder in children as they learn of Christ and begin to develop their own knowledge of His teachings. I am also able to help with the Cub Scouting program as a Unit Commissioner. I am married to my best friend and I love him with all my heart. My husband and I are often running in a hundred different directions, but find ourselves strengthened as we serve each other, our children and the Lord.
