Hi I'm Valerie

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Washington, raised in Alaska, and have also lived in Oregon, Montana and Wyoming. I have felt a desire for religion since I was 8 years old, and attended the Russian Orthodox church until I graduated from high school. My husband and I have 5 children, 8(almost 9) grandchildren, and currently live in Washington. I love to knit and read.

Why I am a Mormon

My husband was an inactive member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when we got married, and I was an inactive Russian Orthodox. When the missionaries taught me the Plan of Salvation (that we lived in the presence of Heavenly Father before this earthly life, and if we live righteously while on earth, we can live with Him again), I knew that it was true. The missionaries also taught that my husband, myself and our children could be together forever. I knew that was what I wanted for our family, so I became a mormon.

How I live my faith

In the 29 years since my conversion, I have taught all ages in church callings--children, youth and adults. I particularly enjoyed teaching seminary--a daily class of religious instruction for high school age youth, at 6am before school. I strive to keep the commandments, to show Heavenly Father that I love Him and want to do what is right. I am so grateful to have found this church.
