Hi I'm Stephanie

I'm a mom and a wife. I love to learn. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a mom of two little girls and am married to my best friend. My interests involve hiking and biking and spending as much time in the mountains as I can with my family. I love to read when I have a spare minute. Currently my reading interests involve nutrition, so my family is having to learn to eat all the new things that come from all the many books I've read! I get to be at home with my girls everyday. I also try to be involved in my city and help to do my part in making my community a better place to live. I also love to exercise and would someday love to go back to school and get my Masters degree in nutrition. I love to talk and most of the time it ends up being about food!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised as a mormon, but I don't believe that is the reason I am a mormon. After I graduated from high school, I moved to a city where I was one of a few mormons and lived with a Jewish family whom I nannied for. For the first time in my life I had to decide who I was and not make decisions because my parents were watching me and telling me what was right or wrong. I was able to make friends of many different faiths and cultures. I was able to go to churchs and synogoues with these friends and find out what others believed. In the next 3 years I continued to learn about my own religion and others trying to figure out who I was and what I believed. At age 21 I decided I wanted to go on an LDS mission and was asked to serve in Kiev, Ukraine for 18 months. During these years I found out how much my Heavenly Father loves me and how much he wanted me to be happy. I believe the reason I am mormon is because I know that Heavenly Father would never lead me astray. If I ask him a question, he will always give me an answer. We all have the opportunity to feel Heavenly Father's spirit, and I have always felt him close to me, listening and answering my questions. I guess I am also a mormon, because everything I learn about the gospel makes sense to me. If I have questions I can always find an answer to them in the Book of Mormon and Bible. The gospel teaches to be like Christ and never judge another because of their beliefs, I am grateful to be part of a religion who would never speak poorly about another persons beliefs or make them feel less because they beleive differently then me. I am proud to say that I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Ladderday Saints.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith in my every day life. I am not perfect and mess up everyday, but realize that tomorrow is a new day and I get to start again! I try to be involved in the local government and school system. I believe that I am raising the next generation and I have an opportunity to help make it better for my children and in turn they get to serve others and help their community. At this time I get to be part of the girls youth group at church, where I can teach them how to be strong, educated women who will someday be part of their community. I believe that it is our knowledge and compassion that will help us to be a better people. That we need to serve each other to live in a peaceful world. I think it is important to know your neighbors and those that live around you. I like to be outside with my children and they have loved getting to know our neighbors and creating relationships with them. I think it is unfortunate that we are becoming a society of people that live next to each other instead of friends. Not long after we moved here I was able to host a block party and invited all of our neighbors. It was one of the best experiences for all of us, and have been asked numerous times when we will do it again! I will continue to try and live my faith by being happy and having a good attitude, by trying to help others in need and being a friend to those people that I have the privledge of meeting.
