Hi I'm David

I SCUBA dive. I ride motorcycles. I bake delicious foods. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a very laid-back person who can have as much fun sitting on a couch reading a book as I can at 120 feet below the sea. I love trying new things, but I also love having constants in my life. Still trying to figure out what I want to do when I grow up, or if I want to grow up at all, can be tough! I believe that we are all supposed to do what we can so that we can have joy in our lives. Everything else plays a supporting role in our quest for joy.

Why I am a Mormon

I was always brought up in a household of strong faith, and while that definitely helped me get where I am today, I know that I grew the most when I saw how following Jesus' teachings shaped my life. We must have sorrow to know joy, pain to know pleasure, and I have had my share of sorrow and pain. I find that I am the happiest when I am living in a way that shows my love to God, and sharing that love with those around me. It is very refreshing to be able to associate with a diverse group of somewhat like-minded people.

How I live my faith

I try my best to be honest in everything that I do. In so doing, others are able to observe a pattern of predictability in me. I like being reliable because when others rely on me, I am able to share God's love in even the simplest acts of service. Christ told his followers to love one another. Of all the possible ways He wanted others to be able to identify His followers, he wanted love to abound. I try to let the people in my life know that I love them in one way or another, and that they matter.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

David
Having grown up a Mormon, I was always encouraged to serve a mission. I knew, however, that the decision was ultimately mine. If I chose not to serve, the Church would only be down by one missionary, but I would be missing two years worth of wonderful experiences and opportunities to serve. I am glad I chose to serve God and the people of The Philippines. Show more Show less
