Hi I'm Chantel

I believe being a mother is a a noble calling. I believe families are sacred. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a single mom. I home schooled my daughter. I love to learn. I love to read. I am the youngest of six children. I helped my dad care for my mom during several years of illness until her death a few years ago. And I work as a registered nurse.

Why I am a Mormon

Though I was raised in the Church, my growing up years were tough. And then as a young adult there were a number of years when I didn't go to church or live as I has been taught by my parents. But there came a time when I needed to decide what it was I really wanted and how I was really going to live my life. As a child I always believed the Church was true, but there comes a time when one must find out for oneself if it really is true or not. So I began reading the scriptures, praying and going to church again..to find out. That was 15 years ago. Why am I Mormon today? Because I know that I lived with my Heavenly Father before coming here to earth and I know that He has a plan for all of us to return home to Him one day. That plan is called the Plan of Salvation, or the Plan of Happiness. And I am, finally, happy. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior, that He lives, and that He literally saved me from the depths of hell. All those terrible, unhappy years as a youth are a thing of the past. He has paid the price for my own sins and mistakes. And He is healing me from serious sins committed against me as a child. I testify that His healing is full and complete. I testify that He knows and loves each of us individually. And I testify that His Church is once again on the earth, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Is life perfect or easy? No, it can still be really tough. But it is also as equally beautiful when one's eyes are opened to the hand and love of the Lord in one's life daily.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by raising my daughter the best I know how. By teaching her the truth of who she really is and of the world we live in. My focus is my family. I know there is no more important work that I can do than the work I do in my home, with my daughter. I know that family is what life is all about, that we came from a family in Heaven and in our families we can find a bit of Heaven here on earth. Though my family is still missing a husband and a father, I have great hope that we will one day be a complete and eternal family. I continue to pray and study the scriptures daily that I may continue to grow closer to my Heavenly Father and my Savior, Jesus Christ. I also am blessed to work in the women's organization of the Church; the purposes of which are to increase faith in Jesus Christ, strengthen home and family, and provide relief. This year we organized a city wide day of service where we sewed over 300 dresses for little girls in Africa, ear and neck pillows that were donated to our local hospice agency, and collected newborn and infant items for our county's health department. Next year we will be making baby dolls for the Church's humanitarian program, sewing fleece blankets for children in an orphanage in Tibet, as well as collecting diapers for a local newborn program, non perishable food items for our county food bank, and new socks and underwear for a local agency that helps homeless families.
