Hi I'm Cameron

I'm a missionary, a son, a brother, a rock-climber, a baseball player and soy Mormon de hueso colorado!

About Me

I love to play sports. I love basketball, soccer, and baseball. Rock climbing is chicken noodle soup for my soul. I just really like to be outside and feel the sun on my face and when I'm inside I really like to have my guitar in my hand. I really love listening to and learning to play the blues and rock music. I have one sister and I think the world of her. My parents are divorced, but I don't let that get me down. I love them both a lot. I am currently a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loving it! I hope to find a career that I love, but i have no idea what it will be right now. As for right now I am living day to day preaching the Gospel of Happiness. I couldn't be happier. :D

Why I am a Mormon

I believe the reason why I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has a lot to do with how I was raised. I was born into the church or my parents were members. During my childhood, I don't really remember going to church very regularly but i do remember that we went and I always remember being taught about Jesus Christ and that he is our Savior and Redeemer and about all the commandments and all the things we should do in this life. I never really understood why or what that meant or why obedience to the commandments is important, until I was about 16 years old and I looked at my life and saw how I had basically gone against many of the things that I had been taught in my youth. I felt deeply troubled because according to all the things I had learned I could not return to my Heavenly Father with clean conscience and without guilt. I carried this around for about two years until it became to much for me to carry around any longer. I went to my bishop and he helped me through the repentance process, or how to recieve forgiveness and make your life in accordance with God. The most incredible thing happened after I had personally finished this process. I could remember that guilt no longer. I felt the forgiveness that only God can give. I knew that everything that I had been taught was true and that God is real and that He sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to save us from the guilt we carry in this life. I know that this church is true.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving a full-time, Spanish speaking mission in California. I strive to serve my fellow man here in Anaheim and try my hardest to help them understand our unique message to the world and what awesome blessings they can receive from it.

To what do you attribute the growth of the Church?

Cameron
The fulness of restored gospel truths and the power therein to change, improve and fix broken lives. Show more Show less

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

Cameron
Well, the way I like to explain it is that baptism is like a two-party contract between God and man, in which we agree to keep the commandments and God promises us a remission (or forgiveness) of our sins. When we don't have the authority or permission from God to sign the contract for Him we forge the signature, break the rules and have no promise to receive that remission of sins. On the other hand when we are baptized by the authority, truly God gives His signature of approval and we do receive the blessings that we seek. I know that that is true and that we must have that authority that only God can give to receive the blessings that we all desire. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Cameron
It is a record of the ancient americas and deals with God's communication with his prophets on that side of the world. This record of sacred scriptures contains as does the Bible the fulness of the everlasting Gospel. The best part is, after His death and resurrection, Jesus Christ himself came to the americas and taught His Gospel and outlined the Plan of Salvation. I would suggest all men (and women) to read the book and ponder in their hearts the message it contains and ask God the Eternal Father, in the name of Jesus Christ if the book is true anyone who does so will know that it is true by the power of the Holy Ghost. (see Moroni 10:3-5) I would also encourge anyone who doesn't understand why we need another record of Jesus Christ to read 2 Nephi 3:12. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

Cameron
The Atonement of Jesus Christ is the transcendent act that God's plan for us centers. It includes Jesus' suffering in the Garden of Gethsemane, death on the cross, and His triumphant Resurrection three days later. It is because of this act that we can find repentance and forgiveness of our individual sins because the price was paid! That is why it was necessary! We couldn't pay the price for our own sins and return back to Our Heavenly Father by ourselves. Only Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the only mortal to live of this earth without sinning could pay this price for us. I testify that only through the Atonement can we be forgiven and that God truly loves us and is willing to forgive us if we will humble ourselves and cry unto him to apply the atoning blood of His Son. I know it. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen. Show more Show less

What is the Law of Chastity?

Cameron
Well, as we all have the sacred power to be co-creators with Our Heavenly Father, God has given us specific directions on how to use that sacred power. God has commanded that this power should only be used between and man and a woman who are legally married or in other words we should only have sexual relations with our husband or wife. Also as all actions begin with thoughts God also has commanded us to keep our thoughts clean, dressing modestly and avoiding pornography in all forms. I testify that this is a commandment from God and that by obedience to this commandment is that only way to build lasting family relationships built on love and trust. The breaking of this law can and will bring serious consequences to us and those around us. I would implore you to keep this commandment and to repent and take the steps necessary if you aren't keeping this commandment. God will forgive you. Show more Show less
