Hi I'm Kathy

I grew up in Murray, Utah and remember the sweet smell of lilacs from my childhood. I love being a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Murray, Utah. I was baptized when I was eight years old. I still remember the sweet smell of lilacs from my childhood home. The whole side of our house was lined with lilac bushes. I was married in the Salt Lake Temple to a wonderful man and we have four children. We moved to Henderson, Nevada so my husband could help with the architectural drawings for the Las Vegas Temple. It has been a wonderful blessing in our lives and we are very happy here.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon all of my life. I grew up in a very active LDS home. I learned at a very young age that the Book of Mormon was the most important book I could ever read. My dad loved to read the scriptures and could answer any questions that I ever had. I learned to love the scriptures as well. They have been a very important part of my life. I have always known that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and always answers my prayers. He shows me tender mercies every day of my life. I love my Heavenly Father and his Son, Jesus Christ. My testimony is built upon the teachings of our Savior and my life has always been happy when I keep the commandments. I have been blessed with many opportunities to learn and grow by serving in different church callings. Sometimes the challenges are great, but Heavenly Father has always helped me to do the things that I have been called to do. I currently teach the Sunbeams in our ward with my husband and we love every week with them. It is like having grandchildren right here with us! Even though we are teaching the very simple and basic principles of the gospel, it is still strengthening our testimonies and helping us to be closer to the Savior. I know that Jesus loves the little children and set the perfect example for us to follow. We feel honored to have these sweet children entrusted to our care and teaching each Sunday.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to always set a good example. I know that people watch the things I do because I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is important to me that they know I love Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and try to always keep the commandments. My husband and I are ordinance workers in the Las Vegas Temple. We were called and set apart for this special calling five months ago. It is a great privilege to serve in the temple each week and to learn more about the temple and the ordinances performed there. Heavenly Father has answered all of my prayers whenever I need help and I know that He is very aware of me and my life and my needs. I love helping others and I try to always carry the image of Christ upon my countenance. My mother taught me to serve with a happy heart. She encouraged me to share our beautiful lilacs with others. One of my fondest memories is taking lilacs to neighbors. I would walk down the street with my nose buried in the beautiful, sweet smelling flowers and feel the peace and love that comes from sharing and knowing that my Heavenly Father loves me. I would sing the song, "My Heavenly Father Loves Me," as I walked: "Whenever I hear the song of a bird or look at the blue, blue sky, whenever I feel the rain on my face or the wind as it rushes by, whenever I touch a velvet rose or walk by our lilac tree, I'm glad that I live in this beautiful world Heavenly Father created for me." The gospel makes me happy and I know that I am a better person because of its teachings. I love my family and our precious grandchildren. The gospel has blessed our lives beyond measure. Yes, I know beyond doubt that my Heavenly Father loves me.
