Hi I'm Sharon

I am a mother to four kids. My husband and I own our own business. And I love to decorate our home on a budget. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in South Africa, but actually spent most of my growing up years in Alberta, Canada. Now I am happy to call the US my home. I have a bachelors degree in Home Economics Education and I use my knowledge and skills every day as a wife and mother. I feel so blessed and have so much joy in our family life. Besides spending time with my family, I love to cook and sew and create beautiful things on a budget. I love to find hidden treasures at a garage sale or thrift store and spray paint it, or repurpose it to make it into something special. I am just a girl trying to create beauty in my own little world.

Why I am a Mormon

I feel so blessed to have been born and raised in the LDS church. My Dad and his family were baptised into the church in South Africa. I have heard their conversion story many times and am so grateful for the choice they made to join this church. Because of them, I am blessed to have the gospel in my life and I am able to share it with my family. Even though I have always had the gospel in my life, I do not take it for granted. I have prayed about it and know for myself that it is the true church on the earth. I know Heavenly Father knows me and loves me. And I know that true happiness comes from following his commandments and living as he would have us live.

How I live my faith

I love my Savior and want to be like Him. I am far from perfect, but I try to live my life in accordance with His teachings. As a family, we find that daily family prayer and scripture study helps keep our family close and rooted on the important things in life. We have weekly family home evenings where we set aside a couple of hours and just spend the time together as a family. We will often have a lesson about an important gospel principle. Other times we just use the time to play games, or go on a fun outing together. With all of our children's activities and all our busy schedules, it is nice to have this one night that is just for us. Besides teaching the gospel to my children, currently I have the opportunity to teach the 12 and 13 year olds in our church. I love the youth and am so happy to be able to share my thoughts and feelings about the gospel with them. I have been so blessed to have many wonderful leaders and teachers in my life, I too hope I can make a difference in the lives of others.
