Hi I'm Hillary

I am currently a college student double majoring in math and statistics. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently attending college working towards undergraduate degrees in both math and statistics. I am what some might call a nerd: I enjoy reading, studying, playing minesweeper, and my favorite subject is math. I also enjoy shopping and being with the people who matter most in my life. My family and friends are so important to me but I also love meeting and getting to know new people everyday.

Why I am a Mormon

My mom was baptized just 5 days before I was born, so I was raised in the church and it was always a fixture in my life. However, I took it for granted when I was young and looked at it more as a place to hang out with friends on Sunday mornings rather than a place for spiritual growth and progression. In my freshman year of high school I met some of the best friends anyone could ask for; that coupled with the presence of amazing teachers inspired me to really find out if I could truly believe what I had been taught all of my life. That year and the following were rough for me. I prayed, read my scriptures, and did everything I had ever been taught but sometimes I just didn't feel like I was receiving any answers to my questions. I must have learned something though because shortly thereafter my parents divorced and it was necessary for me to move 1400 miles away before my senior year. Throughout most of this I would find myself sitting in church alone but my curiosity and desire to learn kept me going. This and other trials that popped up at that time in my life caused me to figure out how I wanted to live my life and I discovered the truth of the doctrines I seemingly had always known. The example of my friends and church members in my life have helped me as I solidified my testimony of Christ and his gospel. I know now the plan that God has for each of us and am eager to strengthen my relationship with him.

How I live my faith

Being a college student, it's very easy to find people interested in why or how I have chosen the lifestyle I live. I try hard to be an example of Christ in everything I do and people notice! When my friends or acquaintances ask me questions I am as honest and open as possible and try to get their opinions as well. I love discussing the gospel and doctrines that are associated with it. I don't necessarily have all the answers but I turn to my scriptures often. They are the key to everything we do and live by in the church and I am always excited to share what I learn with anybody who is interested.
