Hi I'm Rachel

I'm a registered nurse who teaches computers. I'm a wife and mother of 5 with 8 grandchildren. I like to quilt. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I got my nursing degree after all my children were born. I have practiced Behavioral Health nursing most of my career. And then I discovered computers and nursing! For the past few years I have been happily teaching the use of computers to doctors and nurses. I did not grow up with computers and I teach the clinicians from the perspective of having to learn to use computers, usually from my kids. My creative outlet is quilting. I love fabric and thread! I love to design quilts and play with color. I love to make the quilt tops. I like to do the quilting and I love the expressions on people’s faces when I give them a quilt! I especially like spending time with my children and grandchildren..They are very special and I love them all!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are both members of the church so I have been surrounded by that spirit from infancy. I was baptized when I was 8 years old. I gained my own testimony through years of lessons at church and in the home and my own personal study and prayer. I have seen the hand of the Lord in my life in many ways. He cares about whatever is important to me and will help me if I listen carefully to the voice of the spirit. I don’t always know why I am prompted to do a certain thing, but I know why often enough that I trust the rest of the times it is for my good, also.. In this troubled world I’m glad there is a prophet to help me know what I need to do for a happy life.

How I live my faith

I teach the 4 year old children on Sunday. They are so special and close to the Lord and I love the spirit they bring. Though the church is neutral on political matters, I have been able to participate in party caucuses and conventions on the city, county and district levels. Being a member of Jesus Christ’s church here on earth gives me a feeling of peace which I try to emanate to those around me. I take the commandment to love one another as a guiding light in the way I live my life.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

God wants you to know the truth about His church for yourself. Throughout your life you may have felt the Spirit guiding you. As you study and pray about the truthfulness of the church, take time to listen for those promptings. God cares about you and has guided you even before you heard of His chuch on earth. Pray and ask the Lord if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true. The Holy Spirit will testify to you of the truth as you listen in faith. In the New Testament, James chapter 1 verses 5 and 6, we are invited to ask God about things we want to know and promised that, if we are sincere, we can have our questions answered. Who chooses the Mormon prophet?

The prophet is a spokesperson for Jesus Christ and is chosen by Him. The men who become prophets have been schooled through life and church service for many years to be worthy and capable of this position. All members of the church have an opportunity to know for ourselves through the Holy Spirit that the prophet is the one jesus has chosen. Show more Show less
