Hi I'm Shay

I'm from Idaho and a college student and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hey! My name is Shay. I picked up the guitar a couple years ago and discovered a love for songwriting. I'm definitely an amateur, pretty much just a living room performer, but I really enjoy it! I have a big extended family and they're all very supportive and encouraging, even when I get nervous and sing with a shaky voice. My family means the world to me. I'm currently a college student studying Financial Economics with dreams of becoming a personal financial advisor or a small business owner. I've always loved working with money and numbers, I'm a hate english, love math sort of person. I love being outside: hiking, running, biking, swimming, skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, sledding, count me in! I also love traveling, I've been to a few places inside the United States but there are a lot more places of my list of "to go's."

Why I am a Mormon

I love being a Mormon! The gospel makes me happy everyday. I love knowing that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and wants me to succeed. I love my family and I love knowing that my relationship with each of my family members doesn't have to end. We can be together forever. I believe that Heavenly Father guides us to become the people that He knows we can become. We are learning and growing everyday. I know Jesus Christ is our older brother and He loves us as an older brother. He also wants us to succeed. He atoned for each one of us which will allow us to return to our Heavenly Father when this life is over. I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is the true source of peace and happiness. We will always be given trials which allow us to learn and grow, but true happiness comes as we follow Jesus Christ and do what our Heavenly Father asks us to do.

How I live my faith

I attend an LDS University, which means I'm surrounded by people who believe the same things I do. It's a blessing because we help each other live the best we can. I've had opportunities to serve in leadership positions in my singles ward - that's a branch of the church consisting only of young single adults. I believe that when we get outside ourselves and serve those around us, we are happiest, so I try to do that everyday.
