Hi I'm Broc

I grew up in Colorado, as a snowboarder, and a mountain biker. I'm a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints.

About Me

Colorado is one of the best places to grow up, I didn't grow up anywhere else though, so maybe I just don't know. However I just feel like it is a great place. There is so much to do all of the time. The mountains are great for so many outdoor activities. I greatly enjoy snowboarding, skiing, mountain biking, wakeboarding, cooking, sewing, camping, and running. I am currently in college, pursuing Mechanical Engineering. This is my junior year and I would finish in 4 more semesters, but I am going to go on a mission. I was baptized November 24th, 2010 after a year of investigation.

Why I am a Mormon

Ever since Elementary school I have known a few Latter Day Saint Members. I did not much care for religion, I just wanted to do other things on Sunday with my friends. As I reached a high school age I realized some of the questions that become apparent in most of human's lives. The questions of origin, destination, and purpose. I searched vastly for the answers. I studied many eastern schools of thought. The most interesting to me were Buddhism, Taoism, Shamanism, and things like this. Some off chutes were meditation techniques, and lucid dreaming. Then I went cliche on it all, I met a girl. I was ready for a change. I like change, spontaneity, and truth. I am very skeptical to believing in things, maybe that is the Engineer in me. I had to change because I desired, and enjoyed myself. Of course this is difficult to clearly understand while well into an emotional relationship. So I took my time. I studied with the local missionaries. I then read the Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price, and the Doctrine and Covenants, most of the Old Testament (King James Version) and then was baptized almost two years after meeting this most amazing girl. I had promptings from the Holy Ghost, and scripture reading, but wanted to be completely sure that I was adamant about this choice. I wanted to try and make it a permanent choice, and try to understand what that means. This will be a process as long as I live, it is going well so far. I became a Mormon because all that I had been taught by the members I had met had come true, all that I had read had come true, and I learned many of the most important things I think that I will ever learn. As I took time to get baptized the Holy Ghost slowly left me, and the opposer increased his temptations. I also became a member because all of the prejudices I had previously were not realities of the church. I became a member because I could not deny those truths which I had felt, and learned, and been shown.

How I live my faith

Right now I am on one of those missions that you have probably heard about! I am going to Nicaragua, Managua north mission. I am happy to be able to go and work and love the people. The male members are able to go on 2 year missions after a year of membership if they are between the ages of 18 and 25, this is for the most common type of mission. The girls are allowed to go at age 19 on an 18 month mission. There are also senior couple missions.
