Hi I'm Jared

I'm a student, a salesman, and a husband. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the Salt Lake City, UT area. I grew up on sports! I am a big Utah Jazz, Denver Broncos, and Utah Utes fan! I enjoy golfing, playing baseball, camping, hiking, and anything else that has to do with the outdoors! I love dogs and have always owned one since my youth. I love comedy and making people laugh! I love watching movies, and creating, producing, and editing home made movies! I also love music, and enjoy watching a live band play. I also play the guitar and write and record my own songs. I served a 2 year LDS mission in the Texas McAllen area and learned how to speak spanish. I love the Spanish language and the Tex-Mex culture in South Texas! Not to mention Mexican food! I'm now addicted to Hot n' Spicy food because of the Mexican food I ate on my mission. I married my wife Emily on October 13, 2007, in the Mount Timpanogos Temple in American Fork, UT. We have had a very happy marriage and have lived in many parts of the country such as, Missouri, Virginia, Florida, Iowa, and now Texas! We have moved around a lot because of my work. I am a Satellite TV Salesman, and travel to different areas in the US each summer to work. In 2010 I earned my Associates Degree at Salt Lake Community College. I am currently in school finishing up my Bachelors degree at Texas State University in Mass Communication and Advertising.

Why I am a Mormon

Many people believe that the only reason why people belong to a certain religion is because you grew up in that religion and that is what you're a comfortable with, and not necessarily because you whole heartily believe in it. That was not the case for me. When I was about the age of 14, I wanted to know if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints was true. One day I was playing around in my church’s parking lot. I went to see if the doors to the Church were open, sure enough they were. The church was empty. I went into the chapel room and sat down on one of the benches. I began to pray and asked God if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the Book of Mormon were true. When I finished praying, I sat there for a second and felt nothing. I began to wonder why I wasn’t receiving an answer, then all of a sudden, I felt this warm peaceful feeling come over me like a warm comforting, spiritual blanket. I felt something inside my heart starting to cover my body from head to toe. I felt like I had a burning fire inside my chest. I began to breath hard, and my heart started to pound. This feeling was so incredible that I never wanted to be away from it again. I knew right then and there that the things I prayed about are true, because the feeling I felt could of only come from God. I know without a doubt in my mind that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and the Book of Mormon are true. I’ve never came this close to God by reading this “Marvelous Work and a Wonder.” It truly is the word of God. When I read the Book of Mormon with real intent, having faith in Christ, and ponder it deeply into my mind,(Moroni 10:3-5) I can feel the same way I did in that chapel, it’s truly incredible. I know Joseph Smith is a true prophet, restored God’s Church to the earth, and translated the Book of Mormon, because nothing like this could be anything but from God. I know these things are true by the Holy Ghost, In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

When we moved to Texas about a year ago and I was called to be an instructor in sunday school for the youth, and also the first councilor in the Elders Quorum. I enjoy teaching sunday school and elders quorum! Usually you get more out of the lesson than the people you teach because of how much time you put into studying and learning the material. I also love to bare my testimony of the Restored Gospel, and of Jesus Christ. Many times your testimony is strengthened in the bearing of it. In (D&C 62:3) it states, "Nevertheless, ye are blessed, for the testimony which ye have borne is recorded in heaven for the angels to look upon; and they rejoice over you, and your sins are forgiven you." I enjoy participating in service projects around the community. The LDS church does many projects to aid and serve Heavenly Fathers children of all faiths and backgrounds. For example, the other day we participated in the "Helping Hands Project" to help clean up the burnt down homes in Bastrup, TX. Serving others gives you immense joy and happiness. In the Book of Mormon in (Mosiah 2:17) it states, "And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." I also love to serve in the temple. The temple is a sacred place were we can make beautiful promises to the lord and learn how to become more like Him. No where on earth is more sacred and spiritual than the Lord's Holy Temple, and what a privilege it is to serve Him in His own house.
