Hi I'm Jared

I'm a husband, a father, a brain cancer survivor, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband of a beautiful wife and father of 4 wonderful children that bring me great joy. I enjoy fishing, camping, hiking, exercising, playing and watching sports, and spending time with my family. I am an analyst for an orthopedic company. I have brain cancer and have had two surgeries, radiation and chemo. I hope I can be around for a long time for my wife and kids, but if cancer takes me early I am so grateful that my family has been sealed together in a temple of God and that we will be together for eternity.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for my entire life. I was born in the covenant. That means that my parents were married in a temple of God and made covenants with the Lord so that they and their children would be sealed to them forever, as long as they were faithful and obedient to the commandments of God as taught in the scriptures and through the living prophet who leads the church today. I was baptized when I was 8 years old by my father, who holds the authority to act in the name of Christ (the priesthood) to perform essential ordinances and bless others. I feel very blessed to have grown up in the church and to have been taught the gospel of Jesus Christ from an early age. As I got older I found out for myself that the church is true. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know if it was indeed a true book from God. I felt the peace from the Holy Ghost confirming that is was true. It was not a bolt of lightning experience, but I felt deep inside that the book was true, and when I read the book it helps me draw closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith is the Prophet called of God in these days to bring to light the Book of Mormon and the other truths that God revealed to him.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing my best to put in practice the things that I read in the scriptures and trying to do what Jesus taught when he was on earth. I try to be kind to others and to serve those in need. I provide service at church on Sundays by teaching the 11-year old boys. I hope to be able to strenthen their faith in Jesus Christ so that when life comes at them they will be able to stand firm. I also teach those same boys during the week for scouts. At age 19 I served a mission for the church in Portugal to help others to come unto Christ. That experience provided me with many opportunities to help others and strengthen my own faith in Christ. I am far from perfect, but by continually striving to be better I know that I can be a better husband and father and eventually return to live with my Heavenly Father again.
