Hi I'm Edgar Serrano

I'm 19 years old and I'm from Mesa, Arizona (USA). I love to play soccer, tennis, and run cross country. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Edgar, and I'm going on a mission to Ciudad Obregon, Mexico. Throughout my years in high school, I have participated in soccer, tennis, cross country, and track. I have also been part of the Boy Scout program, and I have recently finished Boy Scouts and become an Eagle Scout. In addition, I love being in the outdoors. I enjoy camping, cycling, hiking, white water rafting, repelling, fishing, and canoeing.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints but my parents were not; they are converts. My parents both joined the church in 1992 after hearing the missionary discussions. They had friends who were members who introduced them to the church and invited them to hear thee missionary discussions. My parents both met in church where they started getting to know each other better, began dating, and were eventually married in the Mesa, AZ Temple in 1993. I was born in 1994 and have been a member of the church since. Even though I was born into the church and my parents have taught me about the church since I was young, I have learned for myself that this church is true. I have read the Book of Mormon, and I have prayed to know about its truthfulness. I have felt a peace and calmness whenever I read the book and that reassures me that the Book of Mormon is true. I also know that God lives and that his son, Jesus Christ, died for each and everyone of us so that each of us can have the opportunity to repent and return to live with him again. I also know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet and through him this church was restored once again on earth. I also know that he saw God the Father and his son, Jesus Christ, who helped him restore this church again on earth with the proper authority. Just like Joseph Smith was a prophet we still have a living prophet today that guides the church. His name is Thomas S. Monson, and I know that he was called by God just like Joseph Smith. I know these things are true and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

How I live my faith

I have noticed that living my life according to the principles and teachings of my church has brought joy and happiness in my life. As a result, I have a good relationship with my family and friends whom I love very much. I have learned to be patient and more caring towards them even though sometimes it may seem difficult to do so. In addition, my church has put a lot of emphasis in helping or serving others and caring for them. I have learned to help others and I always look forward to doing so whenver an opportunity comes along. In my church, I have served doing different things. For example, when I was 18 years old I was put in charge of watching over a group of 16,17, and 18 year old young men and help them. Also, my dad and I are assigned to visit some families each month and make sure that they are also doing well and find ways of helping them if they need it. They call us home teachers, and every family in our church has one, so we are never alone; we always look out for one another. I have also been involved in Boy Scouts, and I recently became an Eagle Scout. Scouting has taught me a lot about life and the importance of helping and loving others. In school, I'm involved in different clubs where I have the opportunity to get to know and help others. Being a part of this church has truly been a blessing in my life.
