Hi I'm Zach

I'm an airline pilot, a husband and a father. I'm a Mormon and I've never been happier than I am right now.

About Me

I am married to a wonderful woman who I knew for only a few months before I knew she was everything I had ever dreamed for in my life. We have one son who brings such an incredible amount of joy into our lives. He is our daily reminder that God loves us. I am an avid outdoorsman. I love being outside which makes it not very surprising that my son loves being outside as well. Anything to do with outdoors, mountains, etc. I love doing. Fishing, hunting, camping, hiking, running, cycling, snowboarding, snowmobiling, dirtbiking, etc. I graduated from college with a Bachelor of Science in Aviation and am currently employed as a pilot. Flying has been a joy in my life since my first flight when I was 15 years old. It sure does beat working for a living. I love flying but the hardest part of my career field is being away from my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I began developing a stronger testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in my teenage years. Growing up I had many friends with a variety of values and attitudes towards Gods commandments and I noticed that I felt different depending on which group of friends I was with and what activities I took part in. I learned to appreciate the good peaceful feelings I felt when I went to church with my friends and read from the scriptures. The Book of Mormon and the Bible became very important to me as I read from them daily. They inspired me to do better every day. I was challenged to read from the Book of Mormon from cover to cover and pray about its truthfulness to know for myself that it was a work of God. I remember the day I finished the Book of Mormon very vividly. I was so close to finishing that I decided to stay up late to read. As the time approached midnight I finished the last verse and knelt down to pray. The Spirit of God overwhelmed me. Feelings of peace, joy, and love, as spoken of in the book of Galatians, filled my body. The feelings were stronger than I had felt them before and I knew without a doubt that what I had read was true. Each day I feel that same Spirit of God leading me and helping me. I strive daily to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ because I feel the Spirit of God and His love more fully and receive wonderful blessings from His Gospel. Joy and Peace beyond measure!

How I live my faith

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is central to everything I do in my life. I strive daily to think of what Christ would have me do. Though I'm far from perfect I am trying and I know that Christ will make up the portion that I cannot. I currently teach a youth Sunday School class in my ward/congregation. I love the preparation time that goes into getting ready to teach the youth because it gives me time for spiritual growth and reflection for myself. I've learned that I find more joy and feel the Spirit of God more often when I serve others. A great leader in the Book of Mormon, King Benjamin, taught that "when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God". Thinking about others more than ourselves is probably one of the hardest challenges we face these days, but doing so brings great blessings. Great blessings come to my family and I as we strive to follow Christ's example and I know that they will continue to come because God blesses those who serve him.
