Hi I'm Brad Lake

I grew up enjoying the outdoors, and many of our family activities that I remember the most were in the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My family is the most important thing in my life, my wife Becky whom I love deeply and our two children. We asked to be a foster home and receiving home when our children were young, so that we could help those children who needed someone to love them and care for them when their family was having difficulty. So our family was always sort of a mixture of children from different families, but we had a lot of fun together, and have many memorable experiences. Because I loved nature and the outdoors so much we often went to the beaches, or to the mountains, camping and hiking. My hobbies after family activities are mostly outdoors; hiking and exploring, fishing, hunting, gardening and outdoor photography. I have tried to develop and expand my skills in other areas such as ultralight backpacking, fly fishing and fly tying, bowhunting for elk, master gardener classes, and photograpy classes. The world we live in fascinates me and I love learning about it and the beauty of nature.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a deep and devout testimony of God, our Father in Heaven, and of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I love and revere them, and am grateful for the Savior's supreme sacrifice for me. I am humbled by the depth of His love for me, having felt the power of His love many times in my life, and desire to do as He has asked all of us to do, to follow Him. I believe that the choice spiritual experiences that I have had in my life, and the answers to my ferverent prayers, all testify of His divinity and divine purpose under the direction of God the Father, and of the truthfulness of His restored gospel here upon the earth, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I strive to be like the Savior, Jesus Christ in my life by treating others in a compassionate and Christlike manner. Although I can only do it imperfectly, it enriches my life to help and serve others, especially those who are having difficulty in their lives. I have helped with many community and church youth programs over the years, also spending many years serving with the Boy Scout program, because I see such great potential for those young people as they learn about life and grow to maturity. I believe in service in our community and try to help our family and the youth to find opportunities to help others. I am proud of our country, the United States, am honored to be a part of it, and have great respect for those who have gone before us in building this great nation. I am grateful for those who have sacrificed for us, especially those who were pioneers, or who served in the armed forces, often sacrificing all they had so that we could enjoy the freedoms of this nation. I honor them and try to be a good steward of the legacy that they left for us.
