Hi I'm Mel

I am a Grandpa, a computer guy, an old poet, and an observer of human nature. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am retired now, but had a great time raising six kids over the last 25 years. Kathy and I both are on our second marriages and have been busy working and serving in the church since we got married. I went to college late in life, got a degree, and worked as a data analysis and research data guy for many years. I love the numbers and making sense of them. I loved raising my six step kids, but they are on their way to their own families now. I saw computers and internet rise from the very beginning and think it is wonderful and amazing. I also lived through the complete rise of the television industry as well as some other amazing things like VCR’s and cell phones- WOW! I never lived on a farm or lived in Utah, but still made it to adulthood somehow. I am interested in and love the people around me. We even lost one of our sons in Iraq and can say I really understand the price of freedom. God Bless America.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a child my step father was an inactive Mormon. We had people from the church always willing to take me to primary, church, and Boy Scout activities. This is were I came to love these fellow church members and know the church was true. They taught me to read the book of Mormon and pray to find out if it was true. I did and it is. I was also ever grateful to learn to keep the Word of Wisdom by not smoking. Both my mother and sister were smokers and both died from lung cancer. I feel that God has been watching over me all these many years and I am thankful to be a member of His church.

How I live my faith

When Kathy and I got married we decided to always do these three things no mater what. #1. Go to church. #2. Pay our tithing. #3. Accept any calling for church service we were asked to do. I believe and teach these things to my children and recommend them to anyone who will listen. Serving others is what it is all about.
