Hi I'm Amy

I was born in Kansas to good parents and a big sis. I grew up in Arizona. I am a convert. I am a wife, mother of 2 & I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife of 22years to my high school sweetheart who i still get butterflies for when he comes home from work each day. I am a mother of two. One handsome son who is hilarious, loving, talented, & who makes me smile & laugh every day. He also has autism. One beautiful daughter who is getting married very soon and who is a sweet, kind, wise soul and the joy in my day. I work part time doing data entry to help supplement our income. I was born in Kansas, raised in Arizona to wonderful, loving parents who gave me a great childhood and a great big sister who always looked out for me and was my voice when i was very shy. I attended Catholic church until i was a young girl and my parents stopped attending. I have really great friends whom i love like family. They are great examples to me and always help me and treat me like family. I love my neighborhood. There is nothing better than being "noticed" while doing yard work or walking the dog. It makes me feel loved every time i hear a car horn or someone yell hello out the window or someone pulls over to visit or friends stop for a glass of water on a nightly walk. I live in a great community and i love it. I love to read and go to movies. I LOVE to cook and make meals for family and friends. I love learning new things. I love to travel, i love the mountains and the beach. One of our families favorite places is Disneyland. I love having a community of people who look out for and love my children and teach them good things.

Why I am a Mormon

I first learned about Mormons when i was in junior high. I noticed a large group of boys and girls who were all friends. They seemed like they had a lot of fun together and seemed like very happy people. Someone told me they were Mormons and I seemed to keep my eye on them the next couple of years. When I was in high school a few months into my sophomore year i saw a boy at a dance. I told my girlfriends "I am going to marry that boy!" feeling a strong connection or love at first sight. The next week i met him and we talked all night. We began dating after that and shortly before he left on his mission he asked if he could teach me what he believed. I accepted and began taking the missionary discussions. I had always loved God as a young girl and yet when we stopped attending church i forgot even the most basic of bible stories, but I never lacked faith that there was a God and I believed in Him and believed He knew of me. The lessons seemed so familiar and made so much sense to me that i felt a burning in my chest and knew without a doubt that what i was being taught was true. He returned home from a 2 year mission & I joined the church. We married soon after. It took me a few years to feel comfortable as a member. I was always nervous someone would ask me something i did not know. 2 years after we married I began to feel more confident when I was asked to teach 7 year olds. If they asked me something i did not know i would tell them i would look it up & call them with the answer. They loved me, I loved them. Together we learned about the gospel. Their acceptance gave me confidence. I have been a member now over half my life. I can not imagine who i would be without the gospel. It brings me peace, strengthens me to do hard things, and enables me to live a life i love. It is a true plan of happiness.I know who I am, I know who created me, I know where I am going & I know we have a living Prophet who loves us & guides us today. I know I am never alone.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day. I pray often throughout each day for guidance and comfort and out of gratitude for all my blessings. I pray for those I love and often those I do not know by name, that their lives might be blessed and that they may be protected and watched over. I read the scriptures and learn about those who have come before. I learn from their experiences, their trials, their deep faith and trust even when they are asked to do things they can not imagine accomplishing they move forward in faith that our Father will help them. I have been asked to teach lessons in the nursery at church, I have taught school age children and teen girls up to 18. I have been in charge of girls camp in the summer and in charge of church activities and parties. I visit or call 2 sisters a month with a message, hoping to form friendships and be a contact if a need arises. I have been a cub scout den leader & cubmaster for the Boy Scouts of America. I have taught leaders & teachers in my church about children with autism & special needs & ways they can help the families. I have spoken in church on occasion when asked. I am now a missionary in our neighborhood with my husband. We meet weekly with the missionaries & other leaders to discuss supporting new members or those learning about the church & help the missionaries find people to teach. I try to be kind to others. I do volunteer work in my community & children's schools. I try to be a good neighbor. I try to notice people & help them when they need a friend. I bring meals to those who are ill or are struggling. I do not drink or smoke to keep healthy and my mind clear. I pay ten percent of our income to our church and pay a fast offering once a month to help those in need, to provide for the building of temples, to go towards humanitarian efforts when disasters happen, to help missionaries.I attend the temple. I attend Sunday meetings. Every day I try to learn, to serve, to love others and daily i choose to believe.
