Hi I'm Mick Thurber

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 68 years young and married to the most wonderful lady on this earth. I am an avid arrowhead collector and have always loved the Native American culture. When we used to play cowboys and Indians, I always wanted to be an Indian. I learned to make arrowheads the Native American way 20 years ago and have taught flint knapping classes for many years. I also love to play my Bluegrass banjo for fun and enjoyment. I am a salesman for a pump company and still enjoy working even though I am retirement age. Life is a wonderful adventure for me and it is so full of meaning with a beautiful wife to share it with.

Why I am a Mormon

I used to be an alcoholic and was a poor excuse for a husband and father. I woke up one day sincerely wanting to be better. I had been a member of another Christian church, but was unable to receive answers to some of my religious questions about those who have died without knowledge of our Saviors atoning sacrifice. The LDS Missionaries were able to easily explain how those souls could receive salvation. They revealed the plan of salvation to me and it made perfect sense. I knew then the church was truly God's restored truth. I asked Him to take away the desire for alcohol from me and I never have had a desire for strong drink since. I'm going on 35 years as a member. Faith truly does precede the miracle!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving my Heavenly Father in my church callings. I study my scriptures daily and pray continually to Him for guidance and direction. I do all I can to emulate the example taught by our Savior through His actions and teachings. The new commandments He taught in Matthew are the basis for all meaningful moral conduct. Truly loving our neighbor as ourselves is the foundation to all our religious undertakings. It is the only way we can perfect ourselves and prepare to meet our God. I attend our Temples regularly and help those who have gone before to share the greatest blessings of the gospel.
