Hi I'm Don

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hello. I graduated from Brigham Young University and attended a Catholic Dental School and have been in practice for 37 years. I married a California girl 40 years ago and we have 4 natural children and 4 children who came to live with us when their father died. All together we have 28 grandchildren. All of the children are fully active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and are raising the grandchildren in the faith as they were raised. I have enjoyed many interests throughout my life. I have been or continue to be involved in the following activities: dirt bike riding, snow skiing, water skiing, scuba diving, cutting horse competitions, golfing enthusiast, hunting (bow, rifle and shotgun), and I love sporting competitions especially BYU football and basketball. I have involved my family with me in all of these activities and have a very close relationship with them all which brings me a great deal of happiness. I am a Mormon. I was raised a Mormon and embraced the faith from my earliest remembrance. As a young man I served a mission for the church in France for 30 months. I was asked by the church to serve another mission with my wife in Haiti for two years. Of all the activities I have ever been involved with my time in Haiti was the most meaningful and brought me the most joy and fulfillment of anything. To serve the people and bring them to a knowledge that they are important to Heavenly Father was a blessing. My family and my faith are the joys of life.

Why I am a Mormon

Although raised a Mormon, there came a time when I had to find out for myself if what I had been taught was correct and was the foundation upon which I should base my life. I trusted my father and mother who taught me to have faith in God and the prophets who lead the church. I decided to follow what I had been taught as it brought me true joy and happiness. As my life has evolved I grew to know that the teachings of the Church were correct and from God. There is nothing but good that is taught in the Church which in and of itself is enough to keep a person loyal to the faith, but on top of this the promise that God will reveal the truth by the gift of the Holy Ghost. I testify that I know by the spiritual influence of the Holy Ghost that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the religion that God and Jesus Christ desire that we follow and that this will bring true joy, purpose and happiness.

How I live my faith

Activity in the Church is defined as a lifestyle and a cultural involvement. I have had the opportunity to be involved in many leadership responsibilities including being a Bishop, a member of a Stake Presidency, and a mission president. While the opportunity to serve was wonderful and rewarding, I have found that living by the standards and commandments of the Lord's Church brings true joy. Being a leader is nice, but being a disciple of the Lord brings more fulfillment than anything. Staying close to the Spirit is important and is accomplished by studying the scriptures, personal and family prayer, living the commandments day in and day out, and attending a participating in the church worship services. To help us live according to what we believe we are asked to serve in various callings. This enables us to show our love for the Lord by serving and loving our fellowman. When we dedicate our lives to Jesus Christ's service only good results. I am ever grateful to my parents for teaching me and introducing me to the Lord and His Church.
