Hi I'm Shelby

I'm a Cali girl, a dancer, a pianist, and Disneyland lover who loves to laugh, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a young woman who loves life!! I love to laugh and make friendships. I am a student at Arizona State University studying Dance (and Dance Education), English Literature, and Theatre. I am originally from Rancho Cucamonga, CA. I love southern California. It's a blissful place!! I also spent a lot of time in New York City and I adore it!! I am a pre-professional dancer and creative artist. I am a pianist, classically trained since I was 7. I've worked at Disneyland and I really enjoyed that. I love photography both in front and behind the camera. I am so grateful for everything I have and I truly cherish it. Live is so fun! Live it to its fullest!!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I was born into the church and have blossomed in my beliefs since then. Being born into the church does not mean you are an active member. I chose to be an active member of this church because I believe in the gospel teachings that this church stands for. I know that these teachings not only educate me about the past, present, and future, but fulfill me with a sense of peace and happiness. It keeps me from harm's path and lets me know that I am loved every second of every day. This church is not only my religion but my lifestyle. It is the essence of who I am, how I have developped and grown as a person, and who I hope to become in my future. It gives me a sense of peace as to what happens after this life and allows me to smile every day.

How I live my faith

I love living my faith! I love being able to enjoy this sense of community that our church has. It's always a fun social gathering whenever I visit. It is pure happiness. I am currently the choir pianist for our church choir. We sing for special occassions, especially holidays not only in church, but in the community as well. I enjoy going to the institute building, where there is a study area on campus of our school, and I get to hang out with all of my friends, play basketball, ping pong, or pool, and get some homework done in between classes. I feel like I am a better person when doing these things and I have fun doing them!

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

The purpose of life here on Earth is to receive a physical body that Heavenly Father has given us. He has also given us the power of free agency, that we can choose whatever we want, which can be a good or bad thing, depending on the choices that we make. Heavenly Father wants us to educate ourselves as much as possible, continuously learning and growing as people. He wants us to become Christ-like and be a positive influence in the world. Lastly, we are here to make and enjoy friendships and families so that we have support as we go through the good and the hard times of this life. We are here as a test, to grow, and we have somewhere to go. This is not the only part of life. It is an eternal process that we should be excited to discover. Show more Show less
