Hi I'm Chance

I'm from Columbus, OH, but I now live in Indiana with my wife and baby girl. I'm a journalist. I like to golf. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I just had our first child this year, an awesome little girl. Adjusting to being a dad is difficult, but fun. Sometimes my daughter and I butt heads about who the boss is and I'm learning quickly that it's mostly her. My family, my job, and my new found love for golf occupy the majority of my time. I try to get out on the course once a week. So far I've been trying to teach my self, but I am coming to the realization that a lesson or two may be necessary to fix my slice.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church. Both my parents have been mormons their whole lives and even my grandparents. I sort of just did it because that's how I was raised, but, like most mormons there came a time when I had to figure out if I actually wanted to be a member of this church. For me I was about 14 or 15 when I decided to read the Book of Mormon for the first time. It took me a couple years to get through it to be honest, and I didn't have a miraculous revelation or anything to know that what I was reading was the truth. I just remember feeling like I had a better understanding of the Savior and what he wants and expects of me. I fall short sometimes like everyone, but I do sincerely believe that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and it helps me to be a better person.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday from 11am to 2pm... yes church is three hours long. I have been assigned two families in my congregation to check up on once a month to make sure their needs are met and they are doing ok. It's called home teaching and most mormons do it. Other than that I use Sunday to relax, take a nap and spend time with my family. I try to avoid doing much else because I believe Sunday should be a day of rest and I actually really appreciate the rest.
