Hi I'm Chris

I was born in Nova Scotia. I love to travel and go to movies. I am an elementary school teacher and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father, an uncle, a brother, a son, and a husband. I am the oldest of 7 children. I take great satisfaction in seeing my children participate and excel in church, school, and community activities. I have enjoyed volunteering as a baseball coach for about 20 years, starting with my first team when I was just 16. I am completing my 30th year of teaching and still enjoy working with children. I like watching baseball and football. I enjoy traveling and spent 2 wonderful years in England as a missionary.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in Nova Scotia, Canada. When my parents and I were living in New Brunswick, the missionaries found us and taught us the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that the missionaries were guided to our apartment and the spirit of the Lord bore witness to my family that what they taught us was true. The teachings in the Book of Mormon, which acts as a second witness that Jesus is the Christ, are true. I have received a spiritual witness that the words contained within this book of scripture are from God.Even though I was a young child when my parents were baptised as members of the church, I have grown up to have my own testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As I grew up through my teenage years, it was so important for me to have friends who held the same beliefs and standards. Today, I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ offers my children the same strength and protection against the prevailing standards in society. With the pressures and turmoil that is in the world today, the gospel gives my family and myself a solid foundation upon which to guide our decisions. It gives me the knowledge of why I am here on earth, what the purpose and meaning is for my life, and the comforting reassurance that my family can be together forever. God the Father and His son Jesus Christ live today. They know me as an individual. They understand my needs and my desires. Our Heavenly Father loves each of us and like an earthly father, he loves us and wants to bless our lives. That can be best accomplished through living His gospel. This is why I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, also known as the Mormons.

How I live my faith

I try to incorporate the teachings of the gospel into my everyday life. We are taught that we are responsible for our actions in this life. As a teacher, I am very conscious of trying to not only teach the academic subjects, but also trying to be a positive role model. I stress the values of kindness to others, seeing that every person is valuable, and teaching students to be resposible for their own actions. I was able to develop leadership skills as a teenager by serving as an officer in the church's youth programs. I had the wonderful opportunity to serve as a missionary in England for 2 years. While I served the Lord in England, I developed a great love for the Savior and his atoning sacrifice for me. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and acts as a companion to the Bible. I have had the priviledge of serving as a counselor to my ward's (congregation's) bishop on three separate occasions. I currently serve as the president of our ward's sunday school program. For me, living the teachings of the Savior is a 24 hour, 365 days a year principle. I know that the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ is contained in his restored church. I invite you to explore further and find out for yourself the blessings that his gospel has for you.
