Hi I'm Karin

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a wife, a mom, and a grandma. I am a recently retired music teacher. I play the clarinet in Gateway Band and Ensign Symphony. I am in my "ward" choir. I love to cook and bake "from scratch." I like sewing but don't get to do that so much because I am raising a grandson who is two years old! I enjoy reading and old movies (my favorites are from the '40's).

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it would be impossible for me to not be a Mormon. Although I was born into a Mormon family, and my family roots are deep and established, I remember well the day I realized, through the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit, that the Book of Mormon was true. I had never felt anything like that, and can never deny that feeling or knowledge. I was 14. There have been many times that I have felt my faith tested, but through it all, I know what I know. Heavenly Father has added witness after witness to that initial testimony that I received and I have been strengthened through many very trying times in my life. I know the Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored and I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior, and the Savior of all the people in this world, who have lived, who now live, and who will yet live. I have an unshakeable faith in my Heavenly Father's love for me, for He has proved it to me time after time. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet of our Heavenly Father, and speaks for Him. I know Joseph Smith was a prophet, and that he restored the Gospel in its fulness to the earth in these latter days. I know that the gospel will continue to roll forth until it fills the earth and all those who seek God and real truth will be able to find and embrace it. I know that God has a plan for each of his sons and daughters. I know that through Christ's atoning sacrifice, we can all be forgiven of our sins and start over, a new man or woman. I know that he loves me and you and everyone, regardless of what we have done, where we have been, or what we believe.

How I live my faith

I am the bulletin editor is my "ward." That means I always know what is going on! I also take responsibility for two women in my ward. I visit or contact them once a month (or more) and when they have any sort of need, I want to be first in line to fill that need. I share a Gospel message with them when I visit and try to listen with the Spirit so that I know how to help them or what to say to them to uplift them. I am a member of the ward choir, and also of the newly formed Ensign Symphony and Chorus, which is comprised of mostly Latter-day Saint musicians who want to uplift people in the Seattle area with great and inspirational music, as well as share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through music. I play in the local community band, Gateway Concert Band and I also assist in conducting.
