Hi I'm Kent

I'm a Hoosier, an avid fisherman, a family man, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of four fantastic children (9 year-old boy, 7 year-old girl, 4 year-old boy, and an 8 month-old girl). I have a wonderful wife who helps to make our home a little bit of Heaven on Earth. I love animals and own a beautiful Basset Hound named "Snickers". I go fishing as often as time will permit and enjoy sharing this hobby with my children. I have a Bachelors degree in Math Education and taught 8th Grade Algebra for 4 years. I also have a Masters of Science in Human Resources Management degree from Purdue University and currently work for the HR department of a large manufacturing company in southern Indiana.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints, or "Mormon". I will always be forever grateful to my parents for teaching me at an early age how to communicate with my Father in Heaven through prayer. It is through this means that I have come to develop a personal understanding of the divinity of Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. I know that God listens to our prayers as we come to him with humble and faithful hearts. I have simply had too many experiences where God has intervened on my behalf after humbly kneeling in prayer to ever deny his existence. I know that God wants me to attend church, more specifically, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As I exercise my Mormon beliefs, I learn to be a better husband, father, son, brother, and child of God. I open myself up to the great blessings that await for those who willingly choose to follow the commandments of God. There is nothing more important to me in this life than my family. I know that my family has been greatly blessed as we faithfully attend church and follow God's will. My relationship with my wife and children has been strengthened as we make God a focal point in our lives. I often worry about the challenges that my children have to face in the somewhat unforgiving world they are forced to live in, but teaching them how to reach out to God for support has given me comfort in knowing they have the tools to live a happy and successful life. I know that God loves each and every one of us and desires for us to experience joy in this life. I also know that true happiness comes from following the life of Jesus Christ and living in accordance with the commandments of God.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in multiple ways. One way is by serving those around me. I learned early in my youth that when I serve others I am also serving God. I try to look for opportunities to help out wherever possible and trust that God will guide me in knowing where I can best be of service. I also offer service to my church through my willingness to participate in services they stand in need of, such as teaching the occasional Sunday School lesson or assisting with various youth programs like Scouting. Another way I live my faith is by continually striving to apply God's teachings to my life. As a family, we regularly read the scriptures (Bible, Book of Mormon, etc.) so that we can better understand how God wants us to live. We attend church weekly for the same reason. In short, I live my faith by doing what I know to be right.
