Hi I'm Ken

I'm a helicopter pilot. I'm a soldier. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a large family in Washington state. I enjoy reading, bicycling, camping and being outdoors; especially the mountains. I am a husband and father of three children. We have been in the U.S. Army for over 15 years and enjoy all the friendships that we have created while frequently moving in the Army. Prior to flying helicopters in the Army I was a linguist and still enjoy learning about foreign cultures and peoples.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in a Mormon family, but like any other person, as I got older I needed to find out for myself if this was God's church. Having that desire to find out for myself, I studied and prayed, putting my faith in God, knowing that he would grant me an answer to my prayers according to my faith. I have had my prayers answered and know that this church is God's church on the earth. As a member of His church I have learned what God's plan for me is as well as those things that are truly important and that truly make one happy.

How I live my faith

For me, being a member of the church is not a Sunday only activity, it really is a way of life. In addition to going every Sunday to worship, learn and fellowship with one another, I take part in visiting other members throughout the month to ensure that they are doing alright and provide any service that I can render. I am also involved in the leadership of the local congregation on a regular basis and assist with activities, ensure the members' physical and spiritual needs are being met, and provide any kind of service that I might be capable of meeting. I have been involved with the young men's youth groups and Boy Scouts in the past. On a daily basis we strife to live in accordance with Christ's teachings and example. We follow the latter-day prophets counsel to be unified as a family in all that we do. We ready scriptures together, pray as a family, spend quality time together in wholesome activities that strengthen our family relationships. Prayer is a critical part in all the decisions that we make and we strive to live as Christ would live on a daily basis. Through the Bible and Book of Mormon we have the teachings of Christ that guide us through the turmoil around us in the world and help us to live our faith everyday.
