Hi I'm Lans

Everyday is a new adventure and I'm enjoying the journey. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Happily married for nearly 25 years, my little tribe's journey has taken us to Utah, Iowa, Idaho, Colorado, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, and now Indiana. Sometimes we feel that we are wanderers in a strange land, but we have relished the good times, and...learned from the not so good. Things I love are the lessons that history teaches, black & white Ansel Adams photos, the colors of a Maxfield Parrish print, my father's wit, the coy look from my wife, the laughter of my children, the smell of sagebrush, and a good soda.

Why I am a Mormon

A 5th generation member of the LDS church. Some of my ancestors were 'Mormon Pioneers' that helped settled Utah. That may explain how I am acquainted with the Church but does not say why I am a member. I am a Mormon because I believe there is more to this life then just what I can see. In spite of all the troubles and trials, I believe that there is a purpose of being here on earth. I believe that our most important relationships will continue past this mortal existence. When I go out on a clear night and look into the sky, or spend an afternoon driving through the autumn woods, everything for me testifies there is a God. I believe He is our Father and that He loves us. I believe He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. I believe in His words and works. I believe in His promises. I believe in His justice and His mercy. I believe in the gift of choice and agency. I believe that we are lost and fallen without a savior. I believe that our Savior is the only begotten of the Father, Jesus Christ, who is full of grace and truth. I believe that He is the light and life of the world. I believe that we are encircled by His arms of mercy by repenting and coming unto Him. I believe He still speaks to us today. I believe He has given us another testament, to witness to His word. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Mormon, the Book of Mormon prophet, spoke of people who he could tell were followers of Christ, by their peacable walk among the children of men. As a follower of Christ, I stive to be a witness at all times, in all things, and in all places. In my work, my association with friends, and in my family, I try to walk with kindness, understanding, empathy, and integrity.

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we carry the name of Jesus. He is the cornerstone of our belief. We believe in Christ, we talk of Christ, we rejoice of Christ, we preach of and teach of Christ. As the only begotten son of our Father in Heaven, Jesus was chosen before the foundation of the world to be our savior and redeemer. Living a perfect life, Jesus allowed himself to be subject to man to fulfill all righteousness. Jesus purchased us with a price. Through Jesus' suffering for our sins, we can become clean again. Through Jesus' resurrection, we can live again. As he descended below all, Jesus will be our perfect judge, for He is that keeper of the gate that employed no servant there. Jesus showed us how to live and what will bring true happiness. Show more Show less
