Hi I'm John

I am an outdoorsman and a John Wayne buff. I love to grow a garden, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've worked a lot of jobs - did construction for over 12 years, shipping/receiving in a factory for 7 years, made moldings for renovation buildings, manufactured plating racks (for cars), as well as an assortment of other industrial jobs. My friends know me to be someone who makes others laugh and smile; that's what makes me happy. I've always enjoyed being outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, gardening, or just running around. In 2002, I lost the love of my life; my dear wife of 8 years and friend of several decades, passed away. That was a low point in my life. Then in 2006, I suffered a heart attack, which took away the opportunities to work that had been such a part of who I was. These trials seemed very hard to bear at the time, but I've been able to get back on track in my relationship with God. I've learned to gain perspective on the hardships of life and see the greater plan that my Heavenly Father has for me and all of his children. Now I have three grandsons who I want to enjoy and have a relationship with. Those boys keep me going.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon because I wanted to learn more about the Bible and get a better understanding of God's will for me. I have learned so much of what my Heavenly Father wants me to do and triy to become a better person at the same time. I love the Book of Mormon because it helps me understand what is in the Bible. Now I know what Matthew 16:19 means, where it says, "And I will give unto you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." I found the Priesthoood authority in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and it has sealed me together forever with my wife. I now know we will be together forever.

How I live my faith

As a member of the Church, I have the honor and responsibility of teaching various families in their homes. I'm also able to teach in one of my Sunday meetings where the men learn about their duties. Missionary work is an important area for me as well; I meet with Church friends to talk about sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I'm glad on a daily basis to be able to support some of the needs of our members, if they call for help with giving a ride or fixing something at their home.
