Hi I'm McKay

I am a product of the Camarillo community and a wonderful, loving family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a large family, the fourth of ten children. I was blessed to be taught at a early age the importance of doing my part. Sharing was not a principal we hoped to understand some day, it was a way of life. Our home was very small. I shared a 10 x 10 room with three younger brothers. I look back and realize I didn't have a lot of time to myself and I always had some sort of assignment. My parents taught us to love one another and to stick together. The majority of our family time was spent going to some kind of event or performance of one of my siblings or the family coming to see me. We were taught to love God and to live our life in such a way that others around us would know of our faith and love of the Savior. My father always made sure we knew how much he loved our mother. We were taught about the history of our country and the importance of neighbors and community. I learned to love America and her people. I am now a father myself. I still love America and with all my heart I want to be a good husband and father. I feel I have been given a great heritage and I want to pass it on to my children. I fall short in many of my efforts but I try my best to make sure my wife and my children know I love and cherish my sweet wife. I try to teach my children to love one another and to be kind to all around them. I try to find opportunities for them to work and make decisions and I pray they follow the teachings of Jesus in their own lives.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know the fulness of the gospel is contained in this church. I am a sixth generation member of the church on both my mom and my dad's sides of the family. I have asked myself many times if I believe merely because this is the faith of my fathers. Although I am strengthen by those who have come before me I have come to know for myself The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church, restored in the last days by God, through his modern day prophets. I heard the story of Joseph Smith and how he was confused why there are so many religions and why if there is one God and one Bible then why is there so much confusion. I relate to Joseph in wondering why there is so much confusion. I am glad Joseph studied and prepared himself to go and ask the Lord in faith the answer to this simple question "which of all the churches is true?" I love the prophet Joseph and appreciate his efforts. I must tell you my witness and testimony and the reason I remain faithful to this church is because of The Book of Mormon. I know the world is full of detractors regarding The Book of Mormon but I know it is a true book of scripture. It truly is Another Testament of Jesus Christ. It is not meant to replace the Bible - together the two books stand as a witness and a testimony of the Savior of this world, Jesus Christ. I know the words and teachings of The Book of Mormon are the words of Christ. I know anyone who sincerely reads this book with a desire to know of its truthfulness will receive their own witness through the spirit of God which will speak peace to your soul. I challenge any one who has taken the time to read this profile to find out for yourself. I challenge you to read The Book of Mormon and pray to our Heavenly Father to let you understand the teachings that are taught within and to know of the truthfulness too. I know you will be given your answer and I pray you show strength to then follow it.

How I live my faith

I try my best to be a kind person. I spend as much time and I can with my wife and children and together with my wife we are trying to teach our children to be Christlike in their thoughts and actions. Although I want to be successful in my personal business I know my priority is at home. I believe that no success can compensate for failure in the home. I believe if I am to reach my goal of becoming like Christ then I must do the things he would do. In that spirit I dedicate time in my life to visit others and to try to raise their spirits and encourage them in their righteous desires. I allow time in my life to serve and help with assignments at church and with organizations I feel are working to help improve the world we live in. I love the opportunity to teach. I do not like to be bossy or overbearing but I try to study and prepare myself both by study and by decisions I make so when the opportunity arises I will be prepared to to teach or be an example of the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I believe there is good in almost everything and everyone around us and I enjoy the growth I feel when involved with others.
