Hi I'm Reed Gibby

I'm a Mormon, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ if Latter-Day Saints. I know He is indeed the Savior of the world.

About Me

I am happily married to Barbara and we have five grown children and thirteen grandchildren. We enjoy visiting them. We like to work in our yard and garden and go to Lake Tahoe where we have biennial reunions with our children and grandchildren. My career has been in Transportation Engineering in Washington, Oregon, California, Alaska, California again, and Nevada. Currently, I work part-time for UNLV and UNR. I attended college at Ventura JC, BYU BES '67, Portland State University, UC Berkeley MS '70 and UC Davis PhD '91. In the 8th grade, I had a great History teacher. When we covered early American history, he taught us about the Constitution and I fell in love with it. There was an essay contest about the Constitution and I won 3rd Place, which was a miracle given my exremely weak writing ability at that time.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormom (member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because my parents were active members. However, it was not until I read the Book of Mormon, at the age of 15, that I was converted through the Spirit of God (Holy Ghost). We are encouraged to read the scriptures and pray daily, which I find essential for guidance. Additionally, we have inspiring Conference talks, magazines and weekiy meetings that help me avoid many of the spiritual pitfalls around us. I know this is, indeed, Christ's Church restored in these times to prepare Earth's inhabitants for His 2nd Coming.

How I live my faith

My first assignments came as a 12-year old Deacon and, subsequently, I have have many callings and assignments since then including: full time mission in the Eastern States Mission (Feb 1962 - Feb 1964), and many times as a teacher, leader and follower.
