Hi I'm Chelsie

My perfect day consists of an early morning hike in the mountains and some good food! I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Currently a college student I am working to finish up my Bachelor's in Art History. Recently married to a dental student, we love being students but we also enjoy anything related to the outdoors; hiking, rock climbing, backpacking, soccer, running... We bought bicycles with some of our extra wedding money as a present to ourselves in order to commute to school and also to enjoy the beauty around us. I also LOVE reading. My favorite book is Alexandre Dumas', The Count of Monte Cristo. I also enjoy Jane Austen, Tolstoy, and C.S. Lewis. I grew up reading and love relaxing, curled up in a blanket, with a good book. Reading encourages my imagination and has opened my eyes to many cultures, experiences, and adventures. I recently have become addicted to food blogs and love to experiment with new recipes. Thai, Indian, Greek, etc...A novice, I am getting better with each recipe, well I think I am, ask my husband for accurate info. We love to cook together and eat and try new foods.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a wonderful LDS family. One of five girls and a brother, I had to learn a lot of things on my own as my parents were very busy with our many activities. One decision that I needed to make was whether I believed the Church of Jesus Christ to be a true church or not. This could have been a hard decision for me, most of my family are members and many of my friends. But I knew that I had to decide this for myself. I read many materials to figure this out, the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and talked with many people not of our faith. I came to know, through study and prayer, that Joseph Smith was truly called of God to restore the church to the earth, that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Christ set in the Americas, that God loves me, that I am here for a reason, that God has given us a prophet today as in days of old, Thomas S. Monson, to lead and guide His people, and most importantly that Jesus Christ is my Savior, that He loves me and has shown this by atoning for my sins. This testimony is one of my most precious possessions and I cling to it. It helps me in times of sorrow and in times of joy.

How I live my faith

My faith bleeds into every aspect of my life. It has shaped who I am in more ways than I can count. And I am so grateful for its influence. I hope it has made me a more patient and loving person. I feel that without it I am lost. Currently, I’m a Sunbeams teacher. This means that I teach children ages 3-4 years about various topics. It could be from God Loves Everyone to I am Thankful for my Eyes. Each Sunday I prepare a lesson to teach them and come away having been taught. Their Godlike love, acceptance, and simplicity are what they teach me. My faith influences every decision that I have made. It shapes how I treat others, how I face hardships, how I love others, and how I make each big decision. It helped me capture the heart of my husband and for that I am forever thankful. Having him in my life and being able to share the same belief in God and our Savior Jesus Christ has been such a blessing in our marriage. We are striving to be the best people that we can be. Our faith helps us to know who we are and where we are going.
