Hi I'm Aaron

I'm a husband, a father, a snowboarder, a fisherman, a drummer, an engineer, a scientist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Right now I'm a graduate student studying condensed matter physics. I have an amazing wife and three awesome (most of the time) children. Occasionally we have some spare time wherein the family and I like to go fishing and camping, mostly in the summer time. In the winter we like to go snowboarding, but, unfortunately, as a grad student both time and money are in short supply. I also play the drums a bit here and there. I started in high school when some of my friends and I started a punk rock band. Now I play in the jazz band at the school I'm attending.

Why I am a Mormon

When I look back at my life, being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints is one of the things that has significantly shaped who I am today. And, while I do a lot of stupid things, I'm really pretty happy about kind of person that I am. The thing I like most about this church is that it teaches me how to become better without making me feel ashamed about my weaknesses; that my effort is just as important as, if not more important than, my accomplishments. Many people make it look pretty easy to go through life just living as you are, but I like having some motivation to become better and guidance on how to do so. The Savior and His church provide both of those things for me.

How I live my faith

Lately, the majority of my focus has ben on living my faith in my home, being a good husband and father. My wife and I are trying to raise our children to be good, useful members of society, and have loads of fun and many awesome experiences along the way. The challenge of raising children is without a doubt the most difficult that I have ever faced, and I've made some colossal screwups along the way, but The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints teaches me everything I need to know to strengthen my family and get the most out of my life.
