Hi I'm Gertrude

I am a R.N., a mother of 2 boys and a girl, a 3rd generation Floridian, and a convert to the church.

About Me

I was born in 1923 and grew up in the midst of citrus groves in a rural area of Florida during the Great Depression. When I was a child we did not have electricity or a telephone. After graduating from high school, I entered training to become a psychiatric nurse. I practiced mostly private duty (home health care) nursing for 28 years and then worked delivering newspapers for another 18 years. I love to dance, to dine, to swim, and to spend quality time with my extended family.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up attending varying Christian churches, but many of my questions about God and the eternities remained unanswered. My youngest son was the first one in my family to become a Mormon, and he and his wife helped me to get to know many good members of the church where they lived. In due time, most particularly when my mother died, I too gained a testimony of the truthfulness of the church. I realized its great potential for making my life and the quality of my family interactions better.

How I live my faith

I love to socialize and learn about people of all sorts. All of my life I have done and continue to do all that I can to help others progress and have greater happiness in their lives. I love the scriptures that Heavenly Father has provided for me to learn how to become more like my Savior, Jesus Christ. I attend church to worship, to fellowship, and to learn more about Heavenly Fathers will for me in my life. I know that Heavenly Father loves me and I know that I can talk with him any time through my daily prayers, I also know that he cares about me personally and answers my prayers specifically.
