Hi I'm Spencer

I'm an adventure-loving, program manager from Arizona. I'm a husband and crazy dad of five kids and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love life and adventure! Surfing, kiteboarding, wakeboarding, skiing, snowboarding, motocross, scuba diving, and golf are a few of my hobbies. My wife says I have too many. But, I enjoy them all and especially sharing them with my family and friends. Other interests include violin, music, and just goofing around with my five kids. I'm a program manager for a large corporation which can be stressful at times. But, I'm grateful for a good job that helps me provide for my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I've learned that when it comes to spiritual matters, your only reliable source of truth is God himself. Men fight and argue over many points of scripture. The world offers tantiliazing invitations that are hollow or in selfish pursuit of riches. Who can you trust? Thankfully, God is very aware of us. He knows what is best for us and how to find peace and happiness in this life ... something the world cannot offer. I have prayed and fasted often to know of the truth of the Book of Mormon and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. And, the answers I have received are very personal, very real, and, withouth doubt, from God. With this assurance, I have aligned myself and my family who I love with this great gospel. As a result, I have seen countless blessings in my life and have enjoyed much happiness and peace. Although to some, it may seem that this gospel limits us with its commandments and 'rules', the opposite is true. Once you realize God is a loving Father who only wants the best for us, keeping the commandments becomes easier. And, as you keep the commandments, you realize they truly do bring the utmost peace and happiness! I testify that this work is true. The Book of Mormon is the word of God and this, His church, offers wonderful peace and happiness if we but latch onto it and strive to give away our sins.

How I live my faith

My faith is an integral part of my life. I strive to deal honorably and honestly with those I work with. I strive to be friendly and kind to all. I strive to be a friend to others. In my local ward, I've had the chance to work with the young men in scouting or other activities. I've also served with the primary (very young) children where I've taught them about the gospel. Most importantly, I'm a Dad. As a father in the church, I strive to love my children and work hard to help them understand right from wrong. I work to make sure they know they are loved by me and their Father in Heaven. I spend time with them and try to teach them how to become wonderful contributors to soceity despite a tumulutous world.

What is the role of the husband and the wife in the family?

After God, my wife is my top priority - she'll even tell you so! Husband and wife are equal partners, a team, in raising children and teaching them right from wrong. My wife and I make a wonderful team. We counsel together to make big decisions about our family and home. We strive to make sure our decisions are in alignment with the Lord's counsel through his modern day prophets and church leaders. As we are both aligned with the Lord, this reduces the number of potential arguments. We rely on each other for support and strive to teach our children the importance of a marriage. For example, we have weekly date night which takes priority. It's important to me that our children understand how important their mom is to me! Show more Show less
