Hi I'm Courtney.

I was a going to Brigham Young University-Idaho but I have put my schooling on hold to serve a mission in Farmington, New Mexico.

About Me

I'm aspiring writer and an English Major at Brigham Young University-Idaho. Although, I have put my schooling on hold to serve as a full-time missionary in Farmington, New Mexico. I am so excited. New Mexico is a big hunting state, which is awesome because I love to hunt White-Tail Deer in Southern Georgia. I have a big family due to my parents getting divorced while i was young. I have seven wonderful siblings because of it though.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church and grew up learning the teachings. Honestly, I have hardly ever doubted anything that I was taught when I was young. What I learned was good enough for me. When I became older is when I began to look deeper into my religion and seek answers to questions I had. I went to High School where people questioned my beliefs all the time. Their beliefs of what was good and bad where differnet than mine often and I began to wonder for my self why I was Mormon. I always came back to one thing. Never had I felt bad or uneasy about anything that I was taught in church or by my parents. I always felt loved. Would God not let me know that the Church I was apart of was bad? The answer is God answers when he is asked a question. So when I got on my knees to know for sure I was doing the right thing I got my answer. Yes, the Mormon Church was true. The doctrine and teachings. The knowlegde I gained about the gospel of Jesus Christ and the love and peace I felt when I went to Church were all real. They were reasurances from my Heavenly Father that I was on the right path.

How I live my faith

I think the best way to explain how I live my faith is through choosing to serve a mission. I had never wanted to be a missionary but after asking the Lord I pray if it was something he wished me to do I got the answer that i should serve. In church I have had jobs or callings. I worked with young women, I planned activities for the youth and young adults in my church, and coorinated with people to visit active and less active church memebers. I haven't been able to do much in my community at home lately because I have been away at college. When I do come home I try to do get jobs babysitting to help the single women and women in and out of my neighorhood.

What do Mormons believe about family?

We believe that the family is the most important creation of God. We believe that Hevenly Father's Plan for us to make it back to him is through the foundation of Christ but also the principle of marriage. By marrying for time and all eternity we insure that our families are togther forever. Marriage between a man and a women is essential for the Plan of Salavtion. God has given us the gift of reproduction and we should use it with in the bonds of marriage to ensure the support and caring of a child. Show more Show less
