Hi I'm Sam

I am a husband, a father of 5, a triathlete, a global entrepreneur for a major software company and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up traveling the world, fascinated by the many cultures and people I met. I met and married my best friend while attending graduate school. We have five wonderful children who inspire us with their unique personalities and dreams. My wife and I enjoy training for triathlons to keep up the energy level needed to keep up with the kids! I have one of the best jobs in the world, working with the global startup ecosystem to support entrepreneurs and create jobs. I am amazed by the innovative people I meet around the world, but am happiest when I am at home spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

First and foremost, I consider myself a disciple of Jesus Christ. I believe that he is the Son of God and sacrificed his life on the cross after atoning for our sins. I believe that He did resurrect from the tomb and that he visited both the apostles in Israel as well as other groups of people on the earth who also had faith and believed in His divine mission. The same priesthood power to act on behalf of the Savior that existed with the early Apostles was restored to earth in these latter days and was used to establish the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The Book of Mormon is second witness of the Savior’s divine mission and a record of early inhabitants on the American continent. Together with the Old and New Testaments and other scripture, it helps people come to understand the purpose of our life on earth and provides guidance to return to our loving Heavenly Father after this life. My father joined the church while in high school and I have pioneer ancestors who came across the plains with handcarts on my mother’s side. While serving a mission for our church in Germany, I developed my own personal testimony of God and the Savior. I also came to appreciate the priesthood and the Holy Spirit bore testimony to me of the truthfulness of the restoration. I have visited other Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints congregations all over the world. I am always amazed at how friendly and comforted I feel meeting fellow members even when I don’t know the local language.

How I live my faith

I try to live each day as a unique gift from God. I prioritize my life to support my family, friends and neighbors. I enjoy following the Master’s example by serving others and cherish the time I get to spend with my family. I consider my life successful if each acquaintance, friend or family member ends up in a better place than he or she was before I met them. I take the same philosophy with work, whether for pay or as a volunteer. I learned to work hard, to do my duty and to help others from my parents. I am not perfect and make mistakes. But I try to learn from them and strive to become a better person every day. I take advantage of the miracle of forgiveness through the atonement by repenting and regularly attending church. I also serve in the church by teaching a Teacher Development class to help teachers and parents improve their ability to strengthen others at church or in the home.
