Hi I'm Shannon

I'm a wife, a mother, a sister, a friend and I am a Child of God.

About Me

I am able to be a stay at home mom and I have four wonderful children. I enjoy crafting and creating things for my family and home. I love to cook and to try new recipes. I like to spend time outdoors gardening, camping, running, hiking, or just relaxing. My favorite time is family time. We enjoy being together and having fun with each other.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a mormon because of the truth the Gospel speaks to my heart. I was raised in another religion, we attended church occasionally as well as a sunday school class. It felt right to go to church but I didn't have any positive feelings about the messages that were being shared there. As life progressed and I was in high school I made some bad choices. I became very troubled and started to lead a very distructive life style. I barely graduated, and didn't persue any type of college. I worked a dead end job, but ended up losing my job due to my constant absense and bad attitude. This became a pivotal point in my life. I got a new job, and my life began to change. I was still struggling with my lifestyle and habits when my new boss encouraged me to leave my old ways behind and to start new. I met a very nice man who worked with me and we started dating. As we dated he explained he was LDS and how important this was to him. He answered the questions I had. As he answered them, he introduced a spark of truth to my life. He invited me to church with him and I found myself accepting his invitation. I remember my first visit to a LDS church very well. It seemed as though every person in that building welcomed me. They expressed a love that I have never known. They were kind to me before they knew anything about me. They showed me what it means to love. This gave me the desire to work harder to be a better person. My husband and I were married a few months later. We moved to a new city, and found the same love there too. The missionaries taught me and I was extended an invitation to be baptized. This happened about 2 years after I had attended church for the first time. I hesitated about being baptized, but when I read the scriptures pondered the messages of them and prayed to know what to do, I felt an overwhelming peace come over me. I knew that I had found the truth. I am grateful for the many blessings and the happiness that have come to my life because of the Gospel.

How I live my faith

I try my best each day to be a good example of kindess toward others. I put my best foot forward in the callings that I have been given. I have been in the Primary program, which is the program that teaches the children the simple truths of the Gospel. I love the faith of the children and the precious moments when THEY teach me. I try to keep an open heart and mind and to see things from others perspective. I love to help others and to share uplifting thoughts with friends. I live my faith by trying my best every day to be a little better.
