Hi I'm Shannon Hensley

I'm a student, an actress, a missionary, an aspiring makeup artist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

For the past 3 years I have been a student at Brigham Young University studying theater - living a fairly average life full of work, school and friends. Ever since I was a little girl I've wanted to be on the stage and so that's what I went to school to study. However, after much life experience I've decided that my life might lie behind the stage - or the camera. Instead of fulfilling my childhood aspirations of being an actress, I've decided to work towards getting my degree in makeup design for stage and film. I have 2 semesters left there and then we'll see where life leads me. Who knows, maybe sometime I can help make someone's dreams a reality. I love working with people and sharing my talents with them. For a time I was part of a theater for young audiences group which traveled around the state doing performances and teaching workshops to fourth graders about the importance of promoting peace and unity within their schools, homes, and communities.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born and brought up in this faith, I have continued to attend, follow, and heed the counsel of this church because I sincerely believe, for myself, that it is true. It's teachings give me the confidence to face life's trials with hope and faith. Through this church I know that I have a loving Father in Heaven who only wants the best for me, and whose ultimate goal is for me to have joy in this life and return to live with him forever with my family. It gives me purpose and direction in life, and helps me be able to base important life decisions on things that truly matter. It gives me hope to know that because Jesus Christ, my Savior, suffered and paid the price for my sins, it's ok that I make mistakes. And that as I truly try to follow Him, His teachings, and His example I will be forgiven and can truly live happily. I have learned all of these things and so much more through The Book of Mormon, and know that I sincere reading of it will testify that it is the word God. The Book of Mormon testifies of Jesus Christ and His ministy. Through reading it together with the Bible, I have been able to come closer to Him and know that He is my Savior, Redeemer, and Elder Brother. I know that through Him, I can overcome and do anything in this life. I know that Joseph Smith was truly the first prophet in our days, and that God and his Son Jesus Christ in reality did appear to him in a grove of trees in 1820. And that through him, the Book of Mormon was translated by the power of God and many plain and precious truths of Christ's church were once again restored to the Earth. I know that through sincere, faithful prayer we can recieve comfort, peace and answers to the many questions that we have in this life. Prayer is one of the most important things (besides my family) that I have in this life, and it is my anchor. Knowing that Heavenly Father truly listens to me and my problems and my trials is truly a blessing and helps me live with more happiness.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being a conscieous member of society, a sister, a coordinator of communtiy service/outreach projects, a friend, a mentor, a camp counselor for Latter-day Saint youth, a moral person, a peacemaker and young adult who is just trying to have joy and peace in the world she lives in :) Currently, I have decided to put my school, work, and home/family life on hold for 18 months, and am serving a Spanish speaking mission. This means that I will be inviting others to come unto Christ and experience the joys and blessings that I have felt from being a member of this church. I will being teaching and demonstrating to others how this church can bless their homes and their families. I will be doing service within the communities that I live and sharing the good news that this Gospel brings.
