Hi I'm Melissa

I live in Colorado. I am of mother of four young boys. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a busy homemaker and mother of four energetic boys. I studied Marriage, Family, and Human Development in college, and am now putting it to use. When I am not driving the boys around to their various activities, I try and find a little time for myself. I enjoy shopping, exercising, and reading. I play the piano and flute. I love to go to art museums or attend broadway musicals.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints my whole life. However, I do not just lean upon the teachings of my parents, I have come to find out the truthfulness of the gospel for myself. It has come step by step. When listening to our modern day prophet, President Monson, I have felt in confirmed in my heart and mind that what he is teaching is true and that he is true prophet on the earth today who receives revelation directly from God. I have read the Book of Mormon and felt the sweet spirit that comes from its teachings. It truly testifies of Jesus Christ. I have been to Nauvoo and to Carthage Jail, where the church had its beginnings. As I walked where the early members walked I was able to learn more about them, and learned for myself that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that he was all that he professed to be. Whenever I have had inquiries into gospel teachings or just problems in my own life, I know that I can kneel in prayer to my Heavenly Father and ask Him for help or for the truthfulness of anything. I know that he will answer me in his own time and way if I am just open and listening for the answer that he will send me.

How I live my faith

I attend church every Sunday. But, being a member of this church is more than that; it is how I live each day of my life. What am I doing to help or better others? I have spent a significant amount of time working with and teaching the youth. I have not only spent time with them on Sundays, but during the week doing worthwhile activities that will make them better teenagers and later adults. We have played sports together, camped together, and learned together. It has been a plesaure to work so closely with our future generation and leaders. I assist and serve at my children's school. I believe it is so important to be involved in their education. With parental help, schools are able to be more successful and it can relieve some of the teacher's burdens so that they can have more time to focus on the children. I have also felt the comradery and close friendships with many women around me. I have learned that women need other women and that we are there to support and uplift one another whether it is with a phone call, dropping by some goodies, or watching a friend's children. I think that we are all better when we watch out for one another.
