Hi I'm Joseph

I'm a proud Hoosier. I love to write and geek out over science. I choose to be happy, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I come from a family of ten children and a lot of strangers. Growing up, my parents always gave friends and strangers a place to stay while they were going though tough times, so I was exposed to a lot of different personalities from a young age. My parent's divorced when I was about seven years old which made home life even more interesting then it already was. Growing up I was pretty reserved but spent a lot of time thinking about the world and what I could do to help solve the problems I saw. I remember at age four talking to my mom about global warming. Since then I've broken out of my shell a lot more. I now love to talk to strangers and get to know everyone I can. I try to keep a positive attitude because life is so much more fun when I'm wearing a smile. I'm studying molecular biology right now at Brigham Young University. Though I love Science, I also have a love for the business side of it. I hope to minor in Management and see where that takes me. I'm an amateur spoken word poet and I write in my journal every night without fail. I also like to hike with friends and play in the great out doors.

Why I am a Mormon

The truth that I found in my religion and the relationship I have with my heavenly father has changed me. The gospel of Jesus Christ has given me a far deeper purpose in life and through it I am able to improve myself without being held down by mistakes. Though I have been surrounded by this religion my entire life, It took a series of life shattering experiences for me to really seek out a relationship with my heavenly father. When I stopped taking the truth for granted, my life began. I am a Mormon because The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints and the people in it have helped me to know my savior Jesus Christ. Through the truths of this church, I know that God continues to speak through his children through a living prophet and that God is mindful of us. This religion is the light that shows the path to the source of all spiritual light, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I've found that one of the best ways to build my faith and to build other around me is to just have good heart to heart discussions about beliefs and life experiences. No matter what religion we are or how we grew up, life is tough on all of us. We need to tell each-other stories and share the little miracles that happen to us. I try to share my faith by sharing stories of the times God has given me strength and made himself known to me through little miracles. I live my faith by trying to be the kind of person that Jesus is. I believe that God gave each of us the ability to be kind to one another and to serve each other. He gave us each very different talents and I try to use mine for good. I volunteer at an elementary school to share my love of science with some of the children. Christ always taught that children were precious and I hope to have my own family some day. I try to use my skill in writing to write uplifting letters to friends and family members each week. I also try to share good principles in my poetry and write down in my journal the ways that the Lord has blessed me.
