Hi I'm Kurt Pogue

I am the youngest of eight children. I was born at home. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the father of 3 children. Two are grown up and one in high school. I run in my spare time. I have interests in several different languages. I served 8 years in the United States Marine Corps. I am what my wife calls a "social butterfly". I love talking to others and listening to what they have to say. Sometimes I talk for long times with others. I think children are important and that they have valuable input in our lives. That is why I love taking care of children. I am sometimes called "Mr. Nanny".

Why I am a Mormon

I joined this church shortly after my father passed away. The religion we belonged to did not seem to have any interest in life after death. So when mom chose this church I followed her. I did not gain a true testimony until my senior year in high school, after I had already enlisted in the military. There was a family that helped me to understand the gospel better. Being a Mormon really strengthened me throughout my tour of duty. And everywhere that I went there were families that helped me be strong in my faith. Almost everyone that knew me knew something about the church. I had to face the bad with the good when it came to others and their ideas on life. But I kept my faith! I know that I belong to the true church that our Heavenly Father has put on the Earth. I have seen many great works come through this religion. I have felt to warmth of the Holy Ghost help me in my decisions and challenges. It's wonderful to know that there is life after death and that we can spend it with our families and return to life with Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

I have held many different assignments in this church. I have worked with different age groups and in different activities. It's wonderful to be able to get together regularly through both the week and weekend and do things like help others. Like unload when they move in or load up when they move out. And to work with children of all ages in teaching them about life, or just having fun with them by playing or doing something on their level of interests. And to fellowship others of all ages and help in their needs. It's great to know that we can rely on others when we need to for help and comfort. And that they show up when you don't think they will or should. But they say "I felt like I should come by and visit you!" I do all of these at various times because I feel it is important to be close to everyone. I think it is wonderful to consider everyone to be a family member and to do what may seem unimportant to others but it always brightens someones day! I feel it is important to have the true love of Christ shine from each of us! People know that they can call me anytime of the day or night to help them. If I am available I will go and help them in whatever they need. It's wonderful to have others know that I am there for them.
