Hi I'm Hillaree

I'm a tall, Idahoan, interior designer, with a love for everything Thai. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

As a small town Idaho girl, family is really important to me. I have three brothers and three sisters and for most of my life we all lived under the same roof my dad built himself. We are a really close family and I consider my siblings to be my very best friends. I recently returned from Thailand where I lived for a year and a half as a missionary helping other people know about Jesus Christ and what a difference knowing and following Him has made in my life. As a result, I love everything Thai, and even more I know what a difference he has made in my life. It was one of the hardest and most rewarding parts of my life. Another thing I love is design. I am currently a college student studying interior design. I love rendering, space planning and the challenge to find creative solutions to everyday problems. Other pastimes I enjoy include, singing, playing the piano, watching movies, and making people happy.

Why I am a Mormon

Even as a child going to church with my family the church just felt right. But it wasn't until I had a sincere desire to know and I got on my knees and asked if it was true that I got a personal confirmation that all I have believed and followed since I was a child was true. I am a Mormon because I know that this is God our Father's church established on the earth today. You might ask, how do you really know. The answer comes differently for everyone and for me throughout my life it has come in many ways. When I pray I get a peace, an assurance and a good feeling confirming that Jesus Christ loves me and sacrificed everything for me. I know that any struggle I go through, any pain, sickness heartache is understood perfectly by Him. When trials come, as they definitly have for me, I have the assurance that I am not alone. I can do this. Some of that comes from the Book of Mormon. As I read those pages written hundreds of years ago I find answers for my everyday problems. It's as if the book is living. In reality God and His Son Jesus Christ are living and answering me through their words written in the Book of Mormon and other scriptures. Their words don't end there in ancient scripture, there is a modern prophet or representative of God on this earth. There are temples around the world with the power of God restored through Joseph Smith to seal our families together for time and all eternity. I love my family and I want to be with them forever. This is the only place on earth where we can have an eternal family. I love being a Mormon because of the peaceful assurances, the happiness, the confidence and the strength that comes from knowing I am a daughter of God who loves me. I want you to have that same peace, happiness and strength in your life. I'm confident that as you ask God sincerly, as I did, you will know for yourself that this is true and you will want to be a Mormon to!

How I live my faith

Service and sacrifice are two things that I think are really important when it comes to following Jesus Christ. He was the perfect example of both of those things. I recently returned from serving a ms a missionary in Thailand. There, without pay, little communication with family, in a strange land I served the Thai people for a year and a half. I saw so many lives change as they came to know Jesus Christ and they came to have the peace and hope that comes as you follow Him. To some it may seem a great sacrifice but I see it as part of sharing the joy I feel. I can't imagine keeping it all inside. I want to help everyone I can to have that peace, confidence and joy in their lives as I do and that is worth any amount of sacrifice. Now I'm back and that service is continuing as I help on a single adult committee to plan activities to help the single adults have fun, lift each other and give of service to those in the community. I love helping people and I'm so grateful this church has given me so many opportunities to serve. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints I'm determined to make a difference and I know I can.
