Hi I'm Mitch Kruger

I'm a Mormon. I live in Bakersfield California.

About Me

I am a power plant operator / shift-worker. I am a huge sports fanatic both playing and watching. I am a veteran of 6 years in the US Navy as a submariner. I enjoy on-line gaming in the form of Everquest.

Why I am a Mormon

I married an LDS girl I met while in the navy going to school in Idaho. We were married 7 years and I never had any inclination to get involved with her church. One day my daughter, after getting home from church, told me about what she had been taught that day. I told her that I did not believe those things myself. She then asked me what did I believe. I told her I didn't know what I believe. This made me have the desire to go to church and see what is being taught to my kids. I felt very comfortable at church my first visit. I learned that the LDS church claimed there were prophets and apostles on the earth today. This gave me a desire to look more closely at the church. While the missionaries were over they told me they know that god lives and that this is his church. As an agnostic I asked how they knew. A member about my age that was with them told me of a way I could for sure if the Book of Mormon was truly from God. He told me if I would read the Book of Mormon, asking in prayer to my Father in Heaven to let me know if it is from him, I would receive an answer before I finished the book. While in 2nd Nephi (the second book in the BoM) I received a powerful answer from the Holy Ghost that it was from God. I was baptized shortly there-after and have been a member ever since (May of 1997).

How I live my faith

I have had many callings over the years. I have been a ward missionary followed by being the ward mission leader. I have been the Activity committee co-chair with my wife. I have been the 11 year old scout leader. I am now a family history consultant, the chairman of the scout committee and an elders quorum instructor. I have the attitude that I will never say no to a calling, because I truly believe it's God who is asking me to serve. I serve with each opportunity that presents itself, as this is a way to get closer to my Father in Heaven. I have been sealed to my wife and children for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles Temple. I continue to visit the temple regularly to do ordinances for those who are unable to do them for themselves. I believe the only way to be truly happy in this life is by staying active in the church and continuing in daily prayer and scripture study. As my children are both grown now I spend a lot of time in prayer with God for their well being and happiness. Me and my wife are closer after 21 years of marriage then we have ever been. I believe with God as focus in my life this will always be the case with each other. I enjoy talking about the church with my friends and co-workers. I love having missionary opportunities.
