Hi I'm Monty

I was born in Idaho and grew up in California. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In my free time I enjoy woodworking, photography and being with my wife and children. I have spent more than 10 years volunteering for the Boy Scouts of America in many different positions. In the past I spent a lot of time playing softball, basketball and volleyball. I have run sports leagues and coached youth teams.

Why I am a Mormon

I have a long heritage of family members who are Mormons, but that is not why I continue to follow His gospel. I have found the teachings of Christ in the Mormon Church ring to my soul. This was made absolutely clear to me as a teenager when I was searching for what to do with my life. I poured out my soul in prayer for several weeks. Then one morning the answer to my prayers came as impressions to my mind. The impressions were clear and decisive and provided me the direction to go. Doubt and confusion were replaced with clarity and conviction. God had answered my prayers in a way that was unmistakable to me. As I look back now many of the happy and good things I have experienced in life are a direct result of that experience as a teenager and as a result of following the direction He provided me.

How I live my faith

Over the years I have spent a lot of time with the youth. Today I teach a youth Sunday school class and during the week teach scouting principles to the Boy Scouts. I really enjoy serving and teaching the youth of today. I think they keep me feeling young. I strive to follow Christ's example of kindness, charity, unselfishness, etc. every day. While I have plenty of room for improvement, the times when I am able to demonstrate His characteristics bring me great joy.
