Hi I'm Mindy

I'm a wife, mother, scrapbooker, home decorator, tv-watcher, singer, handywoman wannabe. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Chicago, Il in a large family - I am the oldest of six children. I went to college at Brigham Young University and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Marriage, Family, and Human Developement. I met my husband at BYU and we have been married for twelve years. I loved my college major and have found it so applicable in my current profession as a stay-at-home mom. I have four sons and am learning more about being their mom everyday. I love to be on the computer - either blogging, scrapbooking, creating things, or catching up on current events. I love volunteering at my boys' school and volunteering as a teacher for children in our church. I love to sing and wish I had more time to devote to improving and performing. I am interested in learning more about interior design and frequent thrift stores often trying to find a furniture treasure to refinish. I am busy and happy!

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents were members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when I was born. My dad was born into the church and my mom joined the Church when she was in high-school. My parents taught me the principles of the gospel from the time I was very young, and I have always known that the gospel is true. I didn't have a single, spectacular moment where I knew it was true - I have always just known it and felt the Spirit tell me it is true. I continue to follow His gospel because there is no other way to find the happiness I feel without the gospel in my life. Life can be tough with plenty of challenges, so I can't imagine facing the unexpected hard times without the knowledge the gospel gives me: That Jesus Christ is my Savior and is always there for me. That I can pray to Heavenly Father and receive personal revelation through the Spirit. That I can have the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost if I live worthily, and that the Holy Ghost can comfort, teach, guide me and bring me closer to my Savior. And I know that if I live the gospel and try my best to keep the commandments and live worthily, I can have eternal joy and live with my family forever.

How I live my faith

My faith is a part of my life every day. Each day, my number one priority is to help my children stay on a path that will bring them happiness. We pray together, read scriptures together, and I try to teach them the principles of the gospel that will help them get through each day - to be kind to each other and to others at school, to try to keep their thoughts clean so that their actions will reflect their thoughts, to follow the rules and obey the commandments, and to recognize the promtings of the Holy Ghost so that He can comfort them and keep them safe. I also live my faith through service. I volunteer at the school to help the teachers of my boys' classes and to become familiar with the environment my children are in each day. I visit other women in my church once a month to check in on them, see how they are doing, and to teach them a short message about the gospel. And I serve each Sunday as a teacher of the eight-year-old children in my church. This is my favorite act of service because it is such a fun age and the children are so excited to learn! They are able to read and answer questions, but are still young enough to be teachable and so loving.
