Hi I'm Max

I was born and raised in Mesa, AZ. I'm a full-time college student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I go to school full-time at Mesa Community College, studying business and psychology. Before that, I attended Brigham Young University. I moved back to Arizona because it was cheaper and more fun to live at home with my family. I had also previously served a LDS mission for two years in the state of Washington, so moving home was an awesome way to reconnect with my parents and sisters. I also work part time at Edible Arrangements as a lead designer, and I love it! Who would love to play with fruit all day? I enjoy all types of sports. Most frequently, I play racquetball and volleyball. I love to watch basketball with my friends and family. I used to swim on my high school swim team, and I still love to jump in the water every once in a while.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an LDS family. My parents are both members of the church. The closest blood relative to me who is a convert is my grandpa on my mom's side. Growing up as a Mormon, it took me a long time before I finally questioned my faith. I was participating in a summer youth program called Especially For Youth. During this program, a counselor challenged each of us to pray to know if the Book of Mormon is truly scripture given to us from God. I had thought that I knew the Book of Mormon is true, but I took the challenge. As I knelt in prayer and asked God, with a sincere heart, about the validity of the Book of Mormon, I felt an overwhelming, yet comfortable and warm peace. The feeling seemed to fill every portion of my body. I knew that this feeling was a manifestation of the Holy Spirit. Since that night, I have had that witness reaffirmed to me as many times as I have asked for it. I know that God loves me and knows me individually. I know that He has provided a way for me to live with Him again in a state of never ending happiness. I am grateful each and every day for the incredible and wonderful ways God influences my life.

How I live my faith

Certain events shape our lives. Whether those events are noticeable or miniscule to others, we are affected irrevocably and somtimes unexplicably. In my life, I can point to a handful of events that have transformed the way I live today. One such event was choosing to serve a LDS mission in Washington. I would not trade my time and experiences there for any amount of riches or pleasures. I am grateful every day for the lessons I learned over those two years about life, God, and myself. Today, I apply those lessons and precious truths to the way I live my life. I attend church every Sunday at a church building near my home with some of the greatest people I have ever met. I have made incredible friendships and treasured relationships with a lot of people my own age, in a similar stage of life as me. I love the spirit and warmth I feel when I interact with these awesome folks. I also help organize a cool activity every fourth Monday called Family Home Evening. Since I attend a church building with a ton of single people like myself, we gather together and have an evening learning about the gospel and participating in fun activities. I couldn't imagine my life without the support of my friends in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints!
