Hi I'm Dan

I'm an Engineer and I design parts of turbine engines. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Arizona and my ancestors were early Mormon Pioneers. I am an aero/thermo Engineer and I design parts of turbine engines so I sometimes sit in front of a computer much of the day. My wife and I have 6 kids and love them dearly. I worked with the Boy Scouts for many years as scout master and merit badge teacher for Leather work and Astronomy and I love the outdoors. I build my own computers and love working with them. Sometimes my wife has me build furniture for the house like a bed or a wall to wall book case. My wife and kids and I love to watch and read Sci-Fi or adventure stories when we have time.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents taught me the gospel since I was little and explained to me what they believe and why. While I always believed what they taught me I sometimes wondered if I or they were wrong. Over the years as I learned and experienced more, I also learned more of what other believe and I came to find a lot of truth in what my grandmother told me "I has to be true, it's the only thing that makes any sense". I have read the Book of Mormon many times and I am so grateful for the enriched understanding it provides as I read the Bible. Together they bring a clarity to the gospel that would not be otherwise. As an engineer I have leaned to scrutinize things carefully and try to find mistakes. I have used this knowledge as I read the Book of Mormon and have found only a delightful spirit of truth about it. As I have read about faith I have come to understand that I must do something about what I believe and then my faith will grow until I know it to be true by seeing the outcome. As I have asked the Lord about the truthfulness of the gospel He has born witness to my heart through his Holy Spirit. I love my Savior and thank my Heavenly Father for his sacrifice. I only hope the I can live up to his expectations of me.

How I live my faith

When my oldest son was 11, I was asked to be the scout master for his troop. What a joy this was. Those boys were a handful but I still feel close to them today. I served as a scout master again a few years later and later as a leader for the older boys. For about 6 years I helped train the leaders of 15 scout, varsity & venture units. I loved to see the boys grow into men and grow in the gospel and come to know the truth of what they had been taught. I currently work with the older men in our ward or congregation. They all have so much experience to share with each other. We are frequently asked to help someone in the area who is sick or just needs someone to talk to. It is so good to know I can go to these great men and ask them to help out. We visit the families in our ward regularly and make sure they are alright. I feel a special responsibility to the older widows and single ladies so we try extra hard to make sure they are taken care of. It is such a good feeling to leave the side of someone in need knowing that you were able to make a difference.
