Hi I'm Darla

I'm a wife and mother. I'm studying nursing. I grew up in Indiana. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love to spend time with my family. I have three beautiful daughters. We love to camp, go for walks, go to parks, go swimming, watch movies, and play games. I like to sew, and mostly quilt and make baby blankets. I like to do crafts and make things. I love to read, although being a mom doesn't leave much time for that lately. I really love to read Karen Kingsbury books. I love the occasional night out with girl friends! It's a time to talk and laugh and uplift each other. But I really look forward to spending time with my husband to renew our relationship. I like to find things to do to serve others. Whether they need a meal, someone to help watch their kids, or some yard work done. I love cooking, so a chance to make a nice meal or baked goods is always fun!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a Mormon. I always loved going to church and the way I felt when I was surrounded by the spirit. I think I struggled as a teen as most people do and I really had to search and find why I wanted to be a memeber. I always came back to the fact that I know I am a daughter of God and I know why we are here. Life is hard and throws us trials and it's how we handle those trials that we come closer to the Lord and we mold ourselves into the people we came here to become. We can still have fun in the process. I can't think of anything more fun than being with my family and enjoying the little things in life. I know that this church is Christ's church which was restored to the Earth through the prophet Joseph Smith. I know that Jesus Christ died for our sins and I am forever grateful for that sacrifice and the knowledge that I can be forgiven of my sins. I know the Lord hears and answers our prayers. I cannot name how many times I have felt alone and through prayer felt comforted and knew that He is always with me. He has answered so many prayers and I know that He loves me. I am so grateful for a living prophet who leads and guides us on this earth today. I know the prophet is called of God and he counsels us.

How I live my faith

I enjoy the opportunity to serve other ladies I go to church with. I get to go to their home to visit and get to know them. I take the time to find if they need my help. I can take them a meal if they need it, or help them with things around the house, or just talk! We get together at church for activities with the women. We learn new things and spend time getting to know one another. We recently got to clean part of our river walkway with all of the members in our church. I loved having my kids their to help so they can learn that it takes everyone to make this earth run. I really enjoy finding small ways to teach my children about serving other people. Whether it is making little kits to hand out to the homeless on the street to help them out, holding a door for someone, or leaving extra coins at our local grocery store so the next child can enjoy the "horsey ride". It is teaching them to think about others.

What is the Relief Society?

Relief Society is the wonderful opportunity to join as sisters in the gospel and help each other and those around us. We have lessons on Sunday where we learn anything from how to strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ to strengthening our home and family. We take every opportunity possible to help those in need.
